    Rmb-1048

I have 4 sets of speakers around the house (3 klipsch pairs, on infinity outdoor). What are the pros/cons to using the RMB-1048 versus a good speaker selector (impendance matching/protection) and good two channel amp (ie RB-1070)

    Thanks, as always.

PS. Got my 1070 to go with the 1056 - woohoo!! hooked it up last night but didn't get a chance to play.

I think you already know my position on this one, but let me add some technical detail. This is a highly simplified explanation. The problem with most impedance matching devices is that they tend to radically reduce amplifier damping, sometimes to nothing. Damping is an amps ability to maintain control of a speaker's movement. Reduced damping will result in reduced sound clarity from higher harmonic distortion. An amplifier's ability to contol a signal is expressed as a number we call damping factor. So, depending on the damping factor of the amp and the amount that the particular device reduces damping there can be a degradation of sound clarity and quality.

your summation is kind of what i had pieced together from talking with other folks. The general thought is that if I run just the indoor Klipsch - I probably don't even need the imdedance protection, but even if it was on - there shouldn't be a huge degredation. If I run the outdoor infinity - by themself - same idea. If I want to run them all - then I will have to live with some level of degredation.

Since the only time I'd run them all - would be if I had people over or something - clarity wouldn't be a huge concern anyways.

So I opted for the 1070 with the speaker selector. There may be some sound quality difference but I think it'll be minimal for the application and the 1070 I think is a better investment for other use down the line.

It's running and the speakers sound good. Especially the in-ceiling Klipsch. The overall sound is alot better then I was expecting. I've heard other ceiling mount speakers - and these blow them away.

        Rotel 1067 vs 1056 + RB 1070
        by BruinsFan
What's the difference between Rotel 1067 and 1056 + RB 1070 (mains redirected to provide 7.1 setup)? The 1067 would have more power all around but the 1056/1070 would give more and I would think better power to the mains. There's about a $200 price difference I think - so what else am I missing in...

        RB-1070 review
        by sdecker
Hi everyone. Here’s the write up on my new RB-1070 amp.

I was and still am using a Rotel RMB-985mkII as my other amp. Both amps are matched with Rotel 1055 receiver. Speakers used are Klipsch KG series speakers, except the center backs, which are KSB series.

        Equipment...

        RB-1070 or RMB-1095 for fronts
        by Raphie
I have both and they are connected to my RSP-1068 in my 7.1 setup, any experience which one would serve the best as stereo L/R?

        1. the 1095 because 200W ch and then both L/R and Center have the same aplification?
        2. The 1070 since this one has a dedicated power supply for 2ch and...

        bridged rmb-1066 vs rb-1070 on 1056 -stereo
        by Core
        Hi,

after a long search for a new (my first) receiver, i found the one and only that´s right for me: the rsx-1056 and i will get it now next friday.
While lokking for a power-amp to go for 7.1 i think the rb-1070 or a bridged rmb-1066 would be fine. But i wonder which would be...

        RB-1080 vs. RB-1070 w/ 804s
        by shep
Here is an age-old question with a twist:

I currently have B&W 804s driven by Rotel RB-1070, w/ RC-1070 and RCD-1072. Due to the layout of our home and the fact that the stereo needs to be locked up to keep my two-year-old son away from it, the stereo is in a family room cabinet and...
