    bridged rmb-1066 vs rb-1070 on 1056 -stereo

    Hi,

after a long search for a new (my first) receiver, i found the one and only that´s right for me: the rsx-1056 and i will get it now next friday.
While lokking for a power-amp to go for 7.1 i think the rb-1070 or a bridged rmb-1066 would be fine. But i wonder which would be better -particularly for stereo ?
-The bridged 1066 has a little more power and an extra channel which i could use for the subwoofer, so i don´t need to build a active subwoofer. Ok, i wouldn´t use a sw for stereo, but it´s not bad to have one for movies
-The 1070 has a higher damping-factor which is really usefull for my transmissionline-speakers.

Hmm, what do you think will be better in my case ??
Is the 1066 as good as the 1070 just for stereo ??

Definately wouldn't use it on a sub. Bridging the channels all ready stresses the amp as it is and it wouldn't do too well on a low frequency only speaker..

What type of speakers are you going to be running for your center rears? Unless they are 8ohm or higher and don't dip below 8ohm in the lower frequencies too much, you should be all right..

      Hi Kevin,

      i plan to use/build 8ohm center/rears.
As i understand right, it would be better to take the 1070 and using a active sw.
      Ok thx, i expected this.

      Another question:
is it possible to biamp my front-speakers for stereo with unused rear-channels of the 1056 ?? some people are doing this with their Denon-3805.

No doubt about it get the 1070. As for the bi amping yes that's possible but not with the rears...if you are only doing 5.1 you could use the 1070 on the bottom and the 1056's front amps on the tweeters but then you wouldn't have any amps left for 7.1.

              RMB1066
              by princeoliver
Does anyone know how the RMB1066 when BRIDGED will be compared to the 985 mkII? I am thinking of using this amp in this mode to power my L/R/C. Will it be a step down from the 985 mkII? I currently use the 985 to bi-amp my front L and R channels. The Centre is bi-amp between my RSX972 and 985. The rears...

              2 x RB1070 Bridged V's 1 x RB 1080 ?
              by bleeding ears
Hi again guys, looks like I am going to have some time on my hands waiting for my preamp to get fixed so now I am pondering my next purchase.

I am considering using 2 RB1070 amps bridged to power my front speakers.
That should produce about 330 wattts per channel.

              Hi all

A long time ago I bought a RSP970 pre-amp and RB985 5x100 power-amp, which I have used for a while and been pretty happy with.

However the pre-amp didn't do do anything digital or proper 5.1 surround, so I decided to upgrade it. I found on ebay someone who was selling...

              Bridged RB1070 for HTM3S?
              by gc8ej25
The recommended power for the HTM3S is 50-250W and I have an RB1070 available to power it. In bridged mode, this amp puts out 330W at 8 ohms. Is this overkill or damaging for the speaker if the levels are within reason? Thanks in advance, guys.
