    Ref level on rsx1056?

I setup my rotel the other day but don't know what the Ref level is for the speaker calibration. It was "0" on my marantz.Does anyone know where it would be for the rotel.thanks

Whatever you would like it to be.. I choose 75 as that is what my calibration disc wants me to set the Db level to. I don't think it will be as linear as a -Db volume scale, but pretty close.

Yup, just use your calibration disc and an SPL meter

Out of luck, Rick. Rotel doesn't use that type of volume meter/scale.

My 1056 puts out 75 db on internal test tones measured with my rat shack meter on my speakers with a setting of 81 if that is helpful. Since your speakers are different, your setting will be too.

Also, how big is your room, how far is the listening position etc...

I used the test tones. The spkrs started at "0" but mains and surrounds are now at +7,center i beleive is at +1 or 2(not at home right now).My room is approx 19' deep x 22 wide.Seating position is 9' from T.V.System is on wide wall.I don't have a setup disk just the meter if that helps.

The reading I quoted was the master volume. My R-L are set at +1 or 2, my center is at 0 and my surrounds are -1 or 2, and my sub is set at +3. I interpret this setup as indicating that when I play the system with a master reading of 81 I will be at reference level, which as I said is way too loud for me. On movies I generally listen at 70-72, music in the mid to upper 60s. YMMV My B&K 307 which I previously owned put out a 75 db test tone for calibration purposes automatically. The Rotel requires that you turn up the master volume to any arbitrary level you like to perform the calibration. I chose the 75 db setting since that is the standard.

                        Hi All,
This may be a dumb question, but the usual practice to calibrate speakers is to set your sound meter to the 70-75 db range, send a test tone through the left speaker and adjust the volume on your receiver until your sound meter reads 75db. You then balance the rest of the speakers using...

Twice this week, we've rented DVD's which would have been unwatchable without the RDC-7's ability to adjust an individual speaker's level. On the director's cut of The Exorcist, the dialogue was totally inaudible. Some sort of error during encoding, I suppose. Anyway, I quickly went to the OSM and raised...

In my RSX-1057 the volume control goes from MIN -> 100

At what volume level should i be calibrating to, given the 75db reference to level each speaker???

In other words, is their an optimum gain setting that one should be be referencing from?

was wondering those that have rotel receivers and such where you had your master volume for ref. level set at when you did your caibration (speakers settings) with the RS meter.with a marantz had it was "0".But i know with rotel there is no such thing.

This is my first Rotel (1057) and I am really impressed with the sound quality. I am working on calibrating it and came across an intersting situation that I wanted to see if others have experienced on Rotel or other receivers.

With other receivers I have always had to calibrate the volume...
