Twice this week, we've rented DVD's which would have been unwatchable without the RDC-7's ability to adjust an individual speaker's level. On the director's cut of The Exorcist, the dialogue was totally inaudible. Some sort of error during encoding, I suppose. Anyway, I quickly went to the OSM and raised the audio level by 4 decibels! Heard the dialogue perfectly and its level matched that of the rest of the audio.
Same thing happened two nights later with a British film (Snatch). We frequently experience real problems with dialogue encoding (drowned out by the rest of the sound)in British films. Once again, out came the trusty remote and in a flash, we had the dialogue track raised by 3.5 decibels to a point where it was audible. [Note: if you rent this DVD, you might want to consider using the subtitles which translate what Brad Pitt's character says -- otherwise you're basically outta luck.] This is a really GREAT feature.
Thank you RDC-7.
