RDV-1040 and Pioneer Plasma 5040HD Problem

When using the component cables only there is no red in the picture (all blue and yellow). With S-Video only the picture is normal. I've tried other component cables but the problem persists. A samsung progressive scan dvd player was able to produce a normal picture and colors in progressive mode with the same component cables that failed on the Rotel. I've talked to rotel and pioneer tech support and no one has an answer other than saying perhaps there is an unknown incompatibility. Has anyone else heard of this? Has anyone successfully attached a Rotel 1040 to a Pioneer 5040 Plasma? Any suggestions?

Do you have another display you can connect the 1040 to via component cables, even if not progressive? At least that way you should be able to tell if it's one of the outputs on the player...

If the samsung was able to work with the same cables then I'd guess the fault is on the Rotel...try and exchange it for a new one and see if that doens't fix the issue. (sounds like a bad connection on the red RCA to me)

DVD player with progressive scan for under 300 Euro.
        by ck_atlantic
        Hi,
I just bought a video projector and now I want to buy a dvd player with PAL progressive scan and component out. I do not want to spent more than 300 Euro. I am thinking to buy the Philips DVP720SA or the JVC XV-N412 or the TOSHIBA SD530. Of course, I prefer to have capabilities like mp3/jpeg/+-RW,svcd,...

        Progressive Scan vs. Line-Doubling?
        by Dave D
        Hi all,

I seem to recall somebody telling me that certain video signals will undermine the line-doubler in my Runco DTV-943 projector. Can somebody please explain?

I ask because I'm upgrading my DVD to progressive-scan and component video and worry that one of these changes...

Rotel 1060 Video connection with 1098/Plasma.
        by >>Angel<<
        Dear Rotel enthousiasts,

Yesterday I bought a Pioneer plasma screen to complete my Rotel setup
After concluding all the (required) connections I found out that there's a problem displaying (progressive or not) an 1060 image on the Plasma screen.
        I really hope...

Pioneer Elite DVC36 or Sony DVP-CX660 5 disk changers?
        by Westly197
Which DVD should my friend get?
Pioneer Elite DVC36 or Sony DVP-CX660 5 disk changers.

A friend wants to get a new 5 Disk DVD player, he has a Mitsubishi VS-50703. The VS-50703 has component video inputs but is not compatible with progressive signals.

        The reason...
