DVD player with progressive scan for under 300 Euro.

    Hi,
I just bought a video projector and now I want to buy a dvd player with PAL progressive scan and component out. I do not want to spent more than 300 Euro. I am thinking to buy the Philips DVP720SA or the JVC XV-N412 or the TOSHIBA SD530. Of course, I prefer to have capabilities like mp3/jpeg/+-RW,svcd, etc, but quality of video and sound played, is my main consern. Any ideas? If you want to propose any other model, please do so.

    Hi,

I don't know what you have to pay in Greece, but if you are lucky you will find a Marantz 4300 or an Philips 963SA for a bit more .

Don't know what brands you have access locally to but, LiteOn, Norcent, LG, Zenith, Momitsu, and others make P-scan, upscaling units that will play a tremendous number of formats. All the brands listed above fit your budget.

The Norcent DP-501M is a rebaged LiteOn LVD2001. It will play virtually everything.

        Progressive Scan DVD Player
        by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
        by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....

Will a progressive scan DVD player be of benefit?
        by P-Dub
From what I know, if I don't have a TV capable of receiving a progressive scan signal, a progressive scan DVD player is a waste of money.

However, with the prices coming down, should it be a consideration? I'm thinking about the cost of the Tosh 3750, which I've seen for C$350 and the...

Are progressive scan dvd players on the way out ?
        by George Bellefontaine
Pretty much all the new hdtvs and digital front projectors coming out do internal progressive scanning, some sporting such well known names as Faroudja. What does that mean for the spate of progressive scan dvd players hitting the market ? I suppose it depends on which component has the best progressive...

        RSP - 1068 / 1066 : Progressive Scan?
        by Stevebez
My supplier of the RSP 1066, told me I need to hook up my DVD component output directly to my Plasma as the 1066 could not handle a Progressive Scan Output.

I have noticed on the 1068 back panel that there is an additional component input, but was wondering if this would handle a Progressive...
