    RSX-1055 reset problem

    My RSX-1055 sometimes reset to factory default preset, so I must reenter the parameters again.
    I sent to Rotel service and after a month they returned me with no problem verification.
    Anyone knows this problem?

    I had a similar problem (when I turned the power off on the unit - not sure when your 1055 looses its settings), with my, at the time, brand new RSX-1055. After many e-mails, and time, the tech people at Rotel finally concluded that something needed to be modified inside the unit. They wanted me to either ship the unit back to them for the internal modifications, or take it back to my dealer where they would have someone do something of the same.

    When my dealer heard the history and story, they were excellent. They commented that this was not something a customer should be having to deal with, especially with a brand new unit.

    The solution for me, was that my dealer traded me for another new unit and shipped the defective 1055 back to Rotel to do whatever they wanted with. The new unit worked as it should have. Basically, the first one was simply defective. Sometimes it happens.

    I do not know how old your 1055 is, and it might be harder for you to find a solution, especially Rotel has had your product for physical inspection and could not find a problem.

    My only offering is the link above to my faulty 1055, just to let you know that I had a similar problem to you, and a replacement unit was the solution in my case.

      Had it happen to me twice in 18 months, don't know the cause, the really annoying thing is that the tuner loses all its presets. If it had happened more frequently I might have done something about it.

        I've had one 1055 in the field do that. In our case it was slight power fluctuations or blips or something. We put it on a UPS battery backup and haven't had a problem since.

          Thank you for your suggestions, I read your story, it's the same of mine.
          I'm a technician and I think the problem is a 'brown out problem'. This happens when a appliance controlled by microprocessor during a lack of mains supply (short transients) or even the initial power on/off 'loose the control' and reset at factory default resetting the internal memory where are the
          user setting. It doesn't matter if the unit was completely off or in stand-by.
          I tried to explain this to the Rotel service, but they told me that the problem during the verify test (a month) it dosn't happened and I think they don't trust me.
          I have purchased in dec 2003 two brand new units: RSX1055 and RDV1060 both with problems. It is extremely frustrating, I thought Rotel gears were 'the best', now I'm in doubt.

            Hi there...

            Im in serious problems, today I tried to upgrade my RSX-1055, I followed the procedure found at Rotels website, finalized the update and checked if the checksum was correct (it was) and it "told" me Download OK.

            But..but...when I tried to turn it back...

            I have a Rotel 1055 and for the last 3 years its has worked perfectly. Last week it was muted and when I un-muted I got horrible feedback. I've un-hooked the components and done a factory re-set to no avail.
