    Rotel RA-1062 v RA-1070

Current system is arcam alpha5 cdp and amp, b&w dm630i speakers, listen primarily to are rock and metal.. Am going to replace the amp as it does not have enough energy for that genre of music + the speakers are relatively difficult to drive so could do with more power.. have auditioned ra1062 amp and really liked attack and detail of guitars etc but found bass a bit understated.. would ra1070 amp improve this substantially ? has anyone compared the two amps ? do 2-channel rotel pre\power combos such as RC03\RB03 or RC1070\RB1070 offer better performance\value ?

    KirkH,

I have heard the RA-1062 and the RB-1070 driving Sonus Fabers (we started with the RA-02 and worked up). The Sound you describe for the bass is a fairly exact description of the effect of having a demanding speaker and an amplifier that is not able drive the current levels with rapidly changing bass impedance. Essentially for the Sonus Fabers (which are challenging to drive) the RB-1070 had significantly better bas control - cleaning up the sound even in the mid bass. For less demanding speakers (B&W602s) the RA-1062 was more capable and the difference (while audible) wasn't (for my friend) worth the money.

Bottom line - I'd definitely try the RB-1070 and see if it cleans up (for your ears) the sound characteristic you describe to a suffcient level. (There remains the possibility that it is the speakers…)

      Currently i have the ra1062 powering my b&w 7nt. Only 60 watts.

I have been advised that i am under powered. However, budget is a real issue for me.

So, where would i be better off:

      1) running the ra1062 with a rb1070

      2) trading up my...

      Hi All.

I just stumbled onto this forum and I'm just thrilled to find it!
It has been a great experience reading thru some of the posts.
I've been using the Rotel integrated amplifier RA1070 with
B&W CDM 1NTs. My sources are a slightly dated CAL CD player

      Q re Pre-amp sections of RA1062 and RC1070
      by ds22030
I am disassembling my HT system and going back to a receiver for HT. I am using the various components (including my main speakers and RB-1080) for a separate 2-channel music system....this means I need a good 2 channel pre-amp.

Does anyone know if the pre-amp sections of RA1062 and...

      RB1070 V's RB1080 any diff
      by bleeding ears
      Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the difference soundwise between the RB1070 and the RB1080?

At nearly double the price, does the RB1080 sound any better than the RB1070? (RB1080 = $1600 V's RB1070 =$900) Thats recommended full retail prices in Australia.

I'm also new to the forum and must say..."Rotel or bust"...
Ivhung is motivating me to ask this question. I am currently driving Boston VR2 (bi-wired @ 4ohm) with RC1070/RB1070 pair with Boston PV500 sub using the secong line-level outs of the pre-amp. It KILLS!!
