    RSP1066 always in 7.1 mode?

    Hi,

I've got a 7.1 system hooked up to my RSP1066. I've set the front speakers to large because I dont want to use my sub in 2 channel mode. The surrounds and centre are all setup as being small. And I set the number of back speakers to 2.
When I play a Dolby Digital 5.1 encode dvd, it will play through all 4 surrounds, so also the rear surrounds play. When I manually switch to Dolby Digital Ex, it just sounds the same and also all 4 surrounds play.

I dont want this behaviour. I dont want to two rears to play when I select normal DD 5.1. I find this very curious and annoying.

    Or is this on purpose?

Btw.. the same happens with DTS 5.1 tracks. Also the two backs play.
I'm using the newest 2.2.5 firmware.

    Greetz,
    Rolf

You are hearing all 4 surrounds because you set your CB to yes. When playing a regular DD5.1 (non EX) soundtrack, the 1066 will use Rotel XS Surround. I'm not sure if there's any other way around this except to disable the rear speakers from the set up menu.

Hmm... too bad ... turning off the rears in setup each time is annoying, since it can only be done through OSD. I guess I have to buy the RSP1098

Ah well... I'll get used to it ... or move back to 5.1 if I upgrade my fronts.

I recently had my RSP 976 replaced with a new 1066 by the Rotel dealer, the 976 had a faulty DSP board.
Well in stereo and home cinema mode the the RSP 1066 sounds awesome much smoother and more open and detailed. In D/D mode I use to wish I had a cinema EQ button but with the 1066 theres no...

So I am poised to buy a new AV amp.

I have looked at HK7500......Case too huge. 51 cm Front to Back and only a small rack to sit it on. Other than the case it was a reasonable unit.

Denon AV11SR (tempted to wait for the 3803) similar to above, but will fit on the rack without...

Hello, just got and set-up Rotel RSP1066 & 1095 amp along with current 980 amp.

It does not work unless completely power off 1066 at front panel.

Sometimes, when I hear the madness surrounding the PS2, I just have to chuckle. Essentially, what the PS2 does, the Sega Dreamcast has been doing for well over a year now. Let's face it - the PS2 is not THAT better than the Dreamcast - it may be slightly superior, but the fact that the PS2 does not...

        rsp-1068 CD play-back question
        by UFObuster
I may have missed somthing in set-up, hence the question.
When CDs are played back using analog input (to the CD jacks) all is well.
When I send the signal from a universal player (a Denon or Yamaha both) over an optical connection....I see the display showing 48k. It then resets to 44.1...
