    Present Volume levels on 1066?

    Hello everyone,

I recently traded in my Lexicon DC-1 for the Rotel 1066. I love the unit, but I had my Lexicon and Pronto remote set up so that when I hit theh "movie start" button on the remote, the lights would dim and the volume would jump to 10db (I hate hearing coming attractions and that LOUD thx logo at a higher volume than the opening credits)

Anyone have any suggestions as how to trick the Rotel 1066 to jump to a present volume level?

    Thanks,
    Joe

Not a trick, but the only way I could see to do it without going RS-232 is to set a macro to fire vol down for about 6 seconds and then vol-up for 1-2 seconds..

The 6 seconds should be plenty of time to drop it to zero if you have the new faster voume codes.. Basically keep fooling with it till the macro gets it all the way down and then up to where you want it..

I agree with Kevin. That's the only way currently that I can think of. Or how about setting up a timer for the mute. Mute the 1066 for a period of time, and then take it out.

Andrew, Could you contact the good folks at ROTEL and ask them if there is a "discrete code" way of setting a numerical volume directly?

The easiest way to find something lost around the house, is to buy a replacement.

As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it.

Thanks for the info you guys... I contacted Rotel, and they told me that they are aware of Preset volume popularity and that they may implement it in future models. The person I spoke to said they would forward my requested to see if it can be made possible through software upgrades. But I will definitely try the "mute" idea. That's a great plan. Anyway to make the Rotel startup at a preset volume? Or does it always startup at the last level used?

Does anybody know if it's possible to set the volume to a specific level using the RS232 interface?

            1066 volume levels after upgrade
            by sindel
            Hello!

I have just successfully upgraded to the latest firmware for the 1066 (thanks to all the postings and help on this board) . After the upgrade I went to recalibrate my speaker levels and noticed that the volume level needed to achieve the correct reading on my SPL meter had risen...

Rotel 1068 vs 1066: Volume levels
            by nbdax
I recently upgraded from RSP-1066 to 1068 and find that I have to increase the volume level to 60-70 range (the number displayed) as opposed to what I was using in RSP-1066 which was in 45-55 range for same loudness. I have RMB-1075 powering the speakers and nothing has changed in the set-up except...

Hey guys, new to the club..lots of great info on here!

Just an observation after my upgrade from 1.37 to 1.50.

I had my speakers calibrated to about 75dB with the volume setting at 61 on the Rotel using the internal test tone. Now, after the update, the volume setting...

            1055/1066 volume
            by gianni
Does anyone know how the volume control is set up on these units? I am familiar with how power output relates to decibel output of a speaker.

What I would like to know is: what does the volume scale on these units represent. In other words, is it linear? Does a volume setting of 40 necessarily...

            1066 Volume question
            by Welshie
Hi everyone, I hope this isn't a n00b question that gets asked all the time but I just got my 1066 today (sound quality is amazing btw) and I think that it should be louder. I'm using a RB991 and 993 to drive my B&W DM604s3 fronts, and I have to wind it right up to 45-50 to get a decent listening...
