Has anyone compared these two directly? I have an RB-1070 due to it coming up locally for a good price with my existing RA-1062 performing pre-amp duties. An RB-03 has now popped up for sale locally. The 1070 can dish out more power but that doesn't matter much to me. If the RB-03 is no real downgrade at normal listening levels, it's an opportunity to slim down my setup a touch with the 03 being a bit slimmer. Looking at internal pics of the 1070 and 03, they appear to be very similar designs superficially at least. Sound quality/character is the key thing, I don't wish to downgrade or deviate too much from the character of the existing setup. The 1070 must have been a pricier power amp new...but did that buy more than 'just' extra power?

Current system is arcam alpha5 cdp and amp, b&w dm630i speakers, listen primarily to are rock and metal.. Am going to replace the amp as it does not have enough energy for that genre of music + the speakers are relatively difficult to drive so could do with more power.. have auditioned ra1062 amp... -

Can anyone tell me the difference soundwise between the RB1070 and the RB1080?
At nearly double the price, does the RB1080 sound any better than the RB1070? (RB1080 = $1600 V's RB1070 =$900) Thats recommended full retail prices in Australia.
