Maybe let me explain this further and hope someone will respond. I have connected TV and processor through the ARC HDMI input and output. I have set hdmi on on the processor and anynet function on the tv. When I play content from the tv SMART hub there's no sound coming out of my system though the volume shows the tv is controlling the processor. Is there something wrong with my processor or is there a step I'm missing

I think it may be dependant on your source material, ie the sound format. What are you playing back and what is it supposed to be outputting in terms of audio? What does it say on your processor front screen about the audio?

So far I have been trying to play Youtube and I think the sound format is stereo. The front processor screen shows ARC but there's no sound at all. I even changed the HDMI cable but still the same.

I suspect its the tv smart hub. Surf the net if it is able to output audio over hdmi. Just out of curiosity how have you connected the devices, which output goes to which input on what device.

I think it is too. It connects to the processor and looses connection immediately. It does that with my bluray player so that makes the tv a suspect. I'm away now and I'll try it when I come back.

I ran into many of the hdmi issues most people face. My laptop has HDMI output, with no seperate SPDIF output port. Initially I thought I would just run the HDMI --> TV, then TOSlink to my amp. Little did I know most TV's downmixes digital signal to 2 channel.

I am happy to say that...

I finally got Audio return channel to work but now every time I switch on my HT it goes into ARC and I have to press an input button for it to get out of ARC into the chosen input. I find this annoying and I dont think it's supposed to do this.

Any ideas why this is happening? My tv is...

Which new HD audio format should you use?
              by Chris D
I thought I'd post this to help out those who have taken the plunge into HD-DVD and/or Blu-Ray, to understand the BASICS of the new HD audio formats that it includes.

The question is, when I pop in a new HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, when I get to the main menu, I've got a choice of several different...

How I've added HDMI 1.3 high bitrate audio decoding to my Parasound C1
              by Chris D
Quite a thread title, I guess. Perhaps I should subtitle it, "or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean, theater."

As the title says, I've added HDMI 1.3 audio decoding to my home theater, centered around the Parasound C1 home theater controller. As...
