RC-1082 vs RC-1090

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has compared these two pre-amps? Is the 1090 better then the 1082? Thanks!

When the RC-1082 came out I compared it with the RC-1090 driving a friends RB-1090 Amp and, on his setup we liked the RC-1082 better... From memory it seemed just a layer cleaner / more spacious / more transparent sounding. But that was a few years ago now.. It will be interesting to hear others opinions.

I've regularly heard the RC-1082 and it remains a great value / high quality pre-amp. Generally newer build than the RC-1090 too...

I have owned both an personally I preferred the RC-1090, especially for vinyl reproduction. I felt the 1090 offered much better soundstaging and blacker backgrounds - I was using with a RB-1092 amp & Dynaudio 52SE speakers. I sold the RC-1082.

Not to mention, the RC-1090 has balanced XLR inputs/outputs.

Hard to say now, especially since Rotel are releasing a new CD player & integrated amp. Maybe a new preamp is in the pipeline too, something similar to the RC-1090? We'll have to wait and see!

New as in newer then all the 15 series equipment?

I have a little OCD. I can't have a 15 series piece and a 10 series piece. It won't match lol. So when I do upgrade it will be everything all at once. I'm weird that way. And Rotel NEEDS to make another RB-1090. I can't part with that baby. Unless of course I get some CA-M600's from Classé!
