Hello fellow audio freaks

I desperately need a new audio rack. I got a new turntable and have even less room now. I would like something that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg. I have 7 components now. 4 of them are stacked in two. PVR & PS3 stacked. And pre amp & cdp stacked. It's starting to look like crap to be honest. Any suggestions?

I've had the Salamander Archetype 5 rack for ten years and changed equipment many times. I've reconfigured it to accommodate these changes. Shelves, threaded rods, and a bunch or nuts, hard washers and washer sized pads, along with their configuration accessories allow for extensive rack designs.

Here is what I got.. You can order it from Costco Canada.. It looks great and does not cost an arm and a leg. Also the veneer they use on the legs is an exact match to the rosenut 800 series wood if you ever go that route..

If you're handy, you could build your own salamander style rack out of T Slot components. The world is your oyster for design as you can then make it custom and adjustable. Looking at the gear you own and the style of your room , Salamander designs is the perfect solution. They have all kinds of different racks that would suit your needs.
If you want to stay on a budget which I don't think Salamander racks are expensive , Check into the Synergy line as you can built it and ad to it anytime. It's all modular which makes the value very high.

I would get into a Triple 20 style rack with side panels and no door to start. This will save you some cash. Then down the road if you choose to ad front doors , you can. It's a beautiful solution.

Or just out of threaded rod and MDF. The Salamander style is just commercializing what a bunch of DIY'ers have done. Obviously depends on your tools as to how nice they can look. That said, Salamander doesn't seem all that unreasonable. Pricey, yes. But not nearly as pricey as it could be.

You can setup the shelves of several Archetype 2 (low profile units) to make a horizontal configuration.

The bass is quite amazing.. If there is no bass in the music then they play no bass. If there is bass in the music then the bass is dynamic and deep. I have never heard anything quite so effortless..

I never really cared for the look of a flexy and I'd be scared of scratching a component on all the threads. You can make shelving out of MDF for a Tslot version and make it nice. Again, I haven't done it, but I did make a drawing of what it might look like with some stuff sitting on it - it's all to scale too. Just have to get the really big bonus to put these components into it

I priced out something very similar to that a while back. I think I was quoted around $600-$700 for having all of the necessary parts cut. That's without the shelves, of course.

I think mine was a bit smaller too...
