Does the unit turn on at all now?. Is it a digital unit?. If so, try running it in 'Stereo bypass' mode using no digital processing. My Rotel receiver did the same thing but worked fine in bypass mode. It means that there is something wrong with the digital processing part of the unit. Rotel warrenties their units for 5 years and is repairing mine now as I speak.

#madmac the RB-1080 is an amp not a reciever.

Some more info would be nice, is the unit still working?

im using an analogue rotel pre amp (dont have the product number handy) the rb-1080 turns on and off fine, it does not smoke or smell. the wiring has been the same a long time before this happened. it first happened in January with a different set of speakers. it was fine after, now its back.

No true analog bypass on RSP-1066???
                by Martinf
Prior to committing to a multi-channel pre-amp (RSP-1066), I’ve been studying the specifications and user manuals for both the Rotel RSP-1066 and very new RSP-1098.

                1. Some observations from RSP-1098 manual:-

                (a) On page 13 in the RSP-1098 manual it has an explicit...

Rotel RSP-1576MKII - Does BYPASS surround mode disable Dirac? - UPDATED - No.
                by Jazzy16
                Some help, please:

I understand that when Analog Bypass is the default mode for an analog input, the Dirac filters are disabled.

When a digital input has the default mode set to stereo and a Dirac filter engaged, what happens when Bypass is manually selected from the surround...

                SSP-800 Bypass vs. DSP
                by merlinus
I have questions about the two-channel bypass vs. digital processing.

Does DSP reduce SACD to the same as RBCD, which is 16-bit 44.1kHz? If so, then I am definitely not getting the full effects of SACDs!!!!

And if so, can I somehow use my subwoofer with the two fronts...

                1068 issues/bad unit?
                by ajpoe
OK, i'm very frustrated... i set up my 1068 and don't feel that it made that much of a difference, if any, over using my onkyo receiver as the processer with my 1075. I was expecting it to blow me away... on top of that, i now have buzzing coming from all channels that i didn't have with the onkyo....

                when is bypass really bypass
                by misterdoggy
Lets say that you are driving your 802D's with a great CD player, great Amp but the problem is Preamp and Processor.

Everyone knows a Preamp is better sound than a Processor. However, If you are using a Processor in "bypass" with only gain or volume on a top unit like a lexicon...
