    RSP-1098 cutting out...??

Without any problems what so ever for 3 years, my RSP started cutting out during both movie, cable and cd playback. It sometimes makes a loud scary sound, but mostly, it just goes silent. I can't remember if I hear the relays or not. I just turn it off and back on, and it works fine.. Any ideas???
Good news is that Rotel is 90 miles away and UPS ground = overnight that close.

    Thanks much, Bob

Apparently the relays can weaken over time, and open unexpectedly. This will cause the drop-outs. Also, make sure its got adequate space around it, and not getting too hot. If the relays are suspect, I'd send it in for assessment/repair.

It sounds like a dry joint issue. Usually occurs over time , where heat is an issue. Most likely power related. If you are not electronics savvy, the best bet is to let the repair center have a look.

Thanks. It looks like it is going in. I can't fool around with anything that sophisticated.

That is a wise decisiion. Rotel/B&W have a pretty good turnaround time.

          Peace and blessings,

I like to share some of recent experience with my new 3D TV setup with my current Rotel RSP1098/RMB1095 setup. I am hoping this information is useful for anyone with the same configuration out there that are interested to take the 3D plunge.

I had not been very active in the last couple...

            Re-soldering amp relays
            by littlesaint
Anyone ever re-solder the relays on an old SS amp? I have a NAD 2200PE that's been solid until recently, and I've tracked the problem down to bad solder joints on the relays. They're surface mounted and it looks a little complicated to get at the bottom of the board.

I might have a problem with my sub and RSP1098
            by Mikael
Can anybody tell me if this is normal..?When I use my sub and use the crossover filter in the RSP1098 the sub makes a popping sound every time the RSP1098 clicks from dolbydigital to 2ch and back, and when I change the input from cd to tuner and other settings?

            RSP with relays-based input selector
            by Yuri
            Hello,

does anyone know what Rotel sound processor (RSP line) has an input selector based on a bunch of relays and has a motor-driven volume control at the same time?

            Regards,

Rotel RMB-1095 Crackling Issues - Possibility of Input Relays?
            by rotel_rmb1095
            Hey all,
I'm having some trouble with my beloved Rotel RMB-1095

            - Turn Power Amp off
            - Set Preamp gain to 40-50
            - Turn Power Amp On
            - No sound at all
            - Turn preamp gain to around 65 and the sound is just audible, above 75 or so and the sound is clear...
