Rb985 MOSFET? Modification tips?
Does the Rb985 have MOSFET transistors?Is there anyway to improve the rb 985 if i should want to modify it?If so what do you recomend? 8) jorgen

The amp uses bipolar transistors. IMO there's nothing really to modify. Any benefit to be gained would not be commensurate to the amount of effort and expense involved. If you are dissatisfied with some aspect of the amp's performance then consider upgrading to something else, maybe Classé.
Also, I know that using the preouts of an AVR is a cost-effective option to a dedicated preamp/processor but you should also consider that the AVR you're currently using in this fashion may be a weak link in your system.Last edited by Glen B; 07 November 2009, 10:43 Saturday.

I am new to seperate and Rotel. Got a used RB985 amp a week ago. Now I see someone is selling RB985 MKii. It is just $130 higher than my RB985. Should I go for the newer MKii or just keep the MKi. hi all having done a bit of "reasearch into older rotel power amps"
will soon recieve rb 985 5 channel amp, and was in the future thinking of buying rb 1080 to power front channels for av/sterio duties,
have know noticed there is older models avaliable ie rb991 (200watts)... -
I have a Rotel RB985 which produces 5X100W RMS & Cerwin vega CVT12 300W RMS
I'm currently using the 2 front amp channles to power these speakers & they are clearly underpowered (clipping at 1/3 power)
1. Can the RB985 be bridged to 2X200 + 1X100?
