Probably not, and you'll save quite a bit of electricity if you don't. Use the trigger input to have it switch on and off automatically with your pre-amp (or other equipment).

Agreed. I use my pre-amp to turn on my amps. Works quite nicely.
Before I had triggers, I turned my system off when not using it.

      Hope this helps.

        Hi :-)

Some of us believe that in our systems the RB-1080 sounded better when 'warmed up' so we left ours on all the time... Can be worth a test or two... Play some really well known msic when turned on from cool and then much later when its been on for an hour... if you think it sounds better - leave it on... There is no harm leaving it on - just a small power draw - from memory about 30-50W depending on the amplifiers bias setting..

Connecting pre AND prepro to RB1080
          by hitek57
          Hi all,

As mentioned in my earlier post, I just added an RB1080 to power my front speakers. And the result is, in a word, WOW. Soundstaging, detail and bass oomph are much better than with my other, ageing power amps -- B&K ST2002 and Marantz M500 monoblocks.

          I have...

          RX1052 as preamp with RB1080
          by b&w fan
I just bought a RB-1080 power amplifier (not in yet) which I am going to coupled to a RX1052 receiver that will work as preamplifier. I delayed the purchase of a dedicated preamp just to reduce the pressure on my cash flow. My speakers are a pair of B&W 703.

          Do you think that using...

          RB1080/RC1082 - I Need a Bit of Guidance
          by kitjv
I had the opportunity yesterday to audition a pair of Paradigm Studio 100s with the Rotel RC1070/RB1070 preamp & power amp combination. My ears were very pleased. However, I am curious about the audible difference that the Rotel RC1082/RB1080 would make with these same speakers. Or maybe going with...

Question about adding an RB1080 to system
          by David L.
I currently have an RSP1068 and RMB1075. I will soon be adding an RB1080 to drive the front speakers instead of using the 1075 for this purpose.

My question is, will it harm the 1075 in any way by using it for the center and rear channels only and leaving the front channels disconnected?...

          Rc1070 And Rb1080
          by gymguymass
I am in the process of ordering the RC1070 stereo preamp and RB1080 power amp, and am curious if anyone has any recommendations for interconnects and speaker cables. I currently own a pair of Mirage OM10 speakers. My music tastes run from rock (Metallica, Guns n Roses, Tool, etc) to female vocalists...
