    RSP-1098 speaker distance question

When setting the speaker distance ,what is a good rule of thumb when setting distance, should you round up or down the distance. If my speaker is 12.7 feet away, to I set it at 12 or 13 feet?

Set it to 13. 12.7 is very much closer to 13 than to 12. I just always use the common round up/down rule of everything in the .5 range.

More important is the fact that it sounds correct to you. Listen to something you know off by heart and makes sure it sounds correct! The biggest test is with dialog because you can hear the voices change where they are coming from, especially if it doesn't seem like the L/C/R are all seemless.

I wonder if anyone has done it the other way around - first located the speakers at the exact foot-increment distance from the listening position, and then adjusted the processor settings accordingly. Would it make any difference?

That's what we are doing... measuring from the listening position and setting the processor according to the distances.

What I mean is positioning a speaker exactly 12 feet away so that when you adjust the delay setting, it will match the distance precisely w/o rounding.

              future software upgrade RSP1098
              by jfinneru
I could notice an interesting thing in that review from What hifi:

Is there anything else you guys hope for with this upgrade?
              I will hope for:
speaker distance: something more accurate than feet and an option to choose metric system in the meny.
              larger font on volume...

I like to share some of recent experience with my new 3D TV setup with my current Rotel RSP1098/RMB1095 setup. I am hoping this information is useful for anyone with the same configuration out there that are interested to take the 3D plunge.

I had not been very active in the last couple...

              RSP1098 - Multi-input question (DVD-A, SACD)
              by Chross
              Hi,

Does anyone know that the volumeadjustments for the distance of the speakers are also availible for the multi-input (DVD-A, SACD)?
              Or is everything bypassed?

(Pioneer DV575 does not have a seperate volume adjustment for the 5.1 channels )

              by Mikael
Can anybody tell me if this is normal..?When I use my sub and use the crossover filter in the RSP1098 the sub makes a popping sound every time the RSP1098 clicks from dolbydigital to 2ch and back, and when I change the input from cd to tuner and other settings?
