    Upgrade : a bit lost...

    Hello there,

Owning a Rotel system (RSP-1098+RMB1075), I plan to build a dedicated room this year.

Doing so, I also want to go 7.1. And here begins my doubts :

A good way to upgrade would be either to add a RB-1070 or 1080, or to go digital with a RMB-1077 (Very interesting as often compared to the RMB-1095).
In the same time, the new 15 series is just released.

I checked the prices and noticed that many interesting options would also be possible :

    - Go for a RSX-1560 (DTS-HD, TrueHD, 1.3HDMI)
    - Keep the RSP-1098 and add the RB-1562 and RMB-1565 (less expansive than a RMB-1077) !!

I also want create a dedicated stereo-room and will therefore also need some stereo stuff (I already have a Rotel RCD-1072 player)...

So, folks, what would you advice ?

Thank you for your comment and help !

From experience, the RMB-1077 is a big improvement over the 1075, and it adds two channels, its a great little amp. But as you've seen, the '10' series is currently being replaced by the '15'. So I would probably recommend upgrading entirely to that. You'll gain HDMI, the new HD audio formats, and the amps are cheaper with newer (better?) ICE modules.

Hello, I am in the same situation

To go 7.1 I think the best way is to add a 1080 and stay with the same series.

Get a BluRay player with 7.1 analog output to support the new audio formats.

The 15 series is great, but why change all your components now ?

Yes, add an RB-1080 for the front left/right speakers, and a DVD player with internal decoding via the 7.1 analog inputs on the RSP-1098. This is the easiest and cheapest way to go 7.1 AND enjoy the new HD audio formats.

          I agree...

Either that or change everything to the 15 series and get a BD payer (Oppo)

If you can find a 1090...grab that, I upgraded from the 1080 to the 1090 and it's amazing the difference. Plus it matches with the 1095 perfect as well. So use the 1090 as your L/R.

              RMB1077 and RSX1057 system
              by bullitt731
I was planning on using an RSX1057 as a processor with an RMB1077 hooked up to a pair of B&W 804s and a HTM3s. Orignally I thought I would biamp and biwire the L and R fronts using 4 channels of the RMB1077 while using the remaining 3 channels to drive the center and back surrounds.

How I've added HDMI 1.3 high bitrate audio decoding to my Parasound C1
              by Chris D
Quite a thread title, I guess. Perhaps I should subtitle it, "or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean, theater."

As the title says, I've added HDMI 1.3 audio decoding to my home theater, centered around the Parasound C1 home theater controller. As...

              RMB1077, DEQX and biamp fronts??
              by obiwan
Hi guys, ages ago I said I was keen to get a DEQX(digital equaliser and xover) for my Dynaudio Special 25's. Well now I've done that and biamped them using (at the moment) my Rotel Michi 200Wper channel power amp to the bass drivers and 2 of the 3 channels on my ROtel 993 power amp for the tweeters....

              by rick c
I was ready to pick up a sunfire cinema grand 200x5,when i ran accross a rotel rmb1077 costing a little more than the sunfire. The rotel i know is only 100 x 7 but how would it compare to the wattage of the sunfire.Reason i ask is that there seems to be a raving about the 1077 even though it's only 100watts.Does...
