    Rotel Rsx-1067 Combined With Rmb-1095

    Hi there,

If you had a RSX-1067 with a RMB-1095 which would be the best way to hook them up to five speakers ? Would it be : -

    1. RSX-1067 as Preamp, while using the RMB-1095 to drive all five speakers.

    or

2 Bi-amp all five speakers using both the RSX-1067 and RMB-1095 or is this not possible ?

    Many thanks for any advice.

    kevsmith,

Option 1 is the best way to go. I'm assuming here you're not trying to drive something like B&W 802's or bigger.

I'm not sure you can bi-amp in the way you describe. I do not know if the 1067 'cuts' off the internal amps when the preouts are used. If you can do option 2, you then have to decide where to put the 1095. If you put it on the mids/highs, then the receiver is driving bass. At 100 watts or so (even watts from Rotel), the bass might be a little lacking. If you put the 1095 in the bass area, then the receiver is on the mids/highs. The 1095, in addition to being quite powerful (1 kilowatt!), is more refined. So, you would be missing out on this area. The best option is to fire up the 1095 and enjoy.

    Hope this helps.

Do you have any idea if the 1095 is being discontinued due to the new Class D amps ?

Another question if you would'nt mind. I can get hold of a RSP-1098 + RMB-1095 (newer version) for £200 less than Rotels new RSX-1560. Apart from the missing HDMI on the 1098 which do you think would offer the most in terms of audio performance ?

Generally you won't get any sound improvement from bi-amping, and I would be worried about different gains since you won't be using two of the same amps.

The internal amps are not shut off, so if you have 4 conductor wires to your speakers, won't hurt to try it out for yourself.

The 1095 is discontinued. Might still have some stock, but no more. The 1098 will sound better then the 1067, but I found the 1069 (and assuming the 1570) to sound pretty equal to the 1098.

If you could find a 1069 to pair with the 1095, that would offer the best bet, and you would still have support for the new surround formats if your blu-ray player does the decoding.

          kevsmith,

As to the purchase opportunity, I would definitely get the 1098/1095 (the HDMI issue notwithstanding). These are two very nice pieces. As a rule, I always like separates over recievers. I would anticipate the audio performance of this combo to be better than the 1560, with the possible exception of the HD audio formats. With your 'leftover' £200, you can buy a Blu-ray player thats decodes the HD audio formats. Then port them over via analog RCA's. That's the way I do it. It sounds awesome this way.

          Hope this helps.

Edit: I like Kevin's idea of the 1069 and 1095.

Emmmmm, so i suppose its a toss up between either a RSP-1098 or a RSP-1069.

Check with your dealer to see if Rotel Europe has any 1069's in closeout. I know Rotel NA was allowing dealers to sell them for around 40% off.

I'll give them a call and see what they have.

I had a few scratches on the center faceplate of my black RMB-1095 (purchased before the silver ones came out) and figured I'd drop B&W/Rotel a call and see how much it would be for a new center faceplate. While I was at it I figured since my other two Rotel amps are silver series 10 I might as...

I've just assembled a system, consisting of using a denon 3805, running preouts to an rb1090 and a rmb1095 ( unbalanced).

Greetings and hope someone here can help.

I've been having this problem ever since I've owned my RMB 1095 (about 2 years) and have tried practically everything I can think of to remedy, including most recently having a dedicated 20AMP circuit installed at Rotel's recommendation directly...
