    rmb1095 &rb1090 troubleshooting query

I've just assembled a system, consisting of using a denon 3805, running preouts to an rb1090 and a rmb1095 ( unbalanced).

I am only getting weak sound out of the main right and left front but nothing out of the other five speakers which are connected to the Rmb1095.

I read the rmb1095 manual and under the troubleshooting section it said to check the input selector switch on the back panel. However, both on the diagram in the manual and in the rest of the booklet no where does it identify or even show this input selector switch.

Maybe the amp is faulty, although the red leds are not showing and the blue light is indicating an AC power going through.

As for the the front speakers, well, I'm not sure why the sound is so weak. When I switch on the Rb1090 the red leds momentarily flash on but then disappear. Is this normal practice when the amp is switched on? The RMB1095 does not do it when first switched on.

I have checked the source by switching dvd players I know that work, and also the digital input cables to the processor, all fine.

    Any suggestions greatly received.

It sounds like the switch for the 12v trigger is in the wrong position. If you have it set to "on" and you're not using a trigger to power it up it will do exactly what you are describing.

I'm not sure what you could be experiencing with weak sound from the RB-1090 however. The quick flash of the channel LED's is normal for Rotel amps when they turn on (and off if you use a trigger).

The 1090 needs to have it's switch set to unbalanced as well.

        thankyou

Will certainly try the 12volt trigger switch when I get home and see if it makes a difference - had no idea about that one. Now pardon my ignorance, but is that input selector switch the manual talks about anything to do to with the 12 volt trigger switch. or is it a separate switch ( which doesnt exist on my rmb1095 back panel in that case)?

Many thanks to those who have replied, much appreciated but not unexpected from my obserevations of this forum.

        Thanks again.

The input selection switch will only be on the RB-1090 (set to unbalanced)
The 12v trigger switch will only be on the RMB-1095 (set to OFF)

          Hope that helps,

          Kevin D.

            Advice was spot on!!!

Well, if all problems could be solved as easily as a flick of a switch life would be so easy.

Yep, it was the 12volt trigger holding everything up. I dont know why but the RB1090 is now a happy camper as well, so everything is great.

A have an RB1090, RMB1095 running through a Denon 3805, being sourced from an RCD1072 and a RDV1045. The four Rotel items have been out of the box less than four days. I was hoping/expecting an improvement in sound over the Denon 3805 but even to the amateur like myself - what a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE!!!

The best analogy is like being born with earmuffs on and not knowing things could sound any better than they do. I am running some Australian built speakers - a pair of VAF I-93's and 5 x VAF I-91's - through this system and to say I am delighted with the result is an understatement.

Thankyou again to those who have helped by providing advice, it was from reading this forum over the past couple of years that convinced me that Rotel was indeed the best path for me to follow - happy I did.

And just wait...if those Rotel are new...they sound a lot better after a week or two of use. About 100-200 hours seems to be about average!

                Enjoy! :T

Whereas that Classé gear just sounds worse after break-in. Shocking isn't it PewterTA?

                    Is a bi-amped Rb1080 as good Rb1090

                    I currently have a Rotel Rb1090 driving two Aussie mainspeakers ( Vaf I-93 Signatures ) and a Rotel RMB1095 driving the centre and 4 surrounds ( Vaf I-91's ).

I am awaiting delivery of a singular horizontal version of the mainspeakers ( I-93) to replace my current centre channel. Now,...

                    RB1090 vs. RB1092 for B&W N802s
                    by cjrivera
                    I'm debating getting a 1090 vs 1092 for my N802's.

I searched the old threads, but couldn't find much specifically about the N802's in an A/B test between the 2.

I plan on using them in a 5.1 system with N804's as rears, HTM1 as a center, and powered with a RMB1095....

Today, I just got back from hearing the 1090 and 1091/1092 amps duke it out with the BW802D... side by side. I must say, I preferred the RB1090 by a good margin. I thought that the 1090 took better control of the 802D in ALL aspects, from the bass to the diamond tweeter. The 1090 had greater stage...

Questions about power indicators/LEDs on 1068 and 1075
                    by tennberg
                    Hi everyone,

I have two questions about newly purchased 1068 and 1075 for my HT system.

                    1. When I turn off the 1075 amp, the red LED turns off. Then, all 5 protection fault lights come on at the same time for a second, then shut down in unison. Is this normal? I could not...

                    Hey Guys,

I'm not sure if the DIY forum is the appropriate place for this post, but it seemed like a person who knows how to design/build a crossover would be excellent at troubleshooting one This is, after all, still a DIY project.
