    Rb-991??

    hello all,

my amp is starting to run hot. after about 3hrs of continues usage, the "protection" light comes on & the amp shuts down.

will a fan help to keep it cool or should i start look for another rotel amp? (rmb-1075)

    i'm using the rb-991 to run a pair of paradigm ref. studio 100s v2. & a rmb-985mkii running the center & surrounds.

plan b: run all speakers from the rmb-985mkii?

    rmb-985mkii vs rmb-1075, will i hear a difference??

My first steps would be-Unplug for 24 hours so caps can discharge-remove the cover-clean the heck out of the internals to remove all dust and/or builup. DeOxit all the connections , including fuse holders. Then check speaker connections at the amp and speakers. Visually inspect everything you can see , looking for burnt spots or corrosion. After all that try it again. If it still fails to behave , it's beyond my basic skills.

Be very careful, not all amps have bleeders on their caps.
For safety sake take a meter and check, or worse case use an insulated piece of metal to short across the leads and make certain they are discharged. Also, as Lee had said Unlpug from the outlet 1st...........

        Hi

I have heard that this is the best forum to talk Rotel.

I am thinking of buying an used Rotel RB991 to add to my HT setup. I will use the pre-out of my Denon AVR 3805 to connect to the power amp to drive my Dynaudio Audience 82 speakers.

        I have heard comments...

        Klipsch RF3 & Rotel RB991
        by ALS
        Dear Freinds,

What's your opinion on Klipsch RF3 & Rotel RB991 power + RC1070 pre. Source as NAD 541i. I found the sound from above combo is bright & loud & not very balanced. My feeling is RB991 may be too much power (200rms/ch) for RF3s, since it's a high efficiency speaker...

        Thanks in advance!!
