12V Trigger Not Working?

I hooked up the 12V trigger wire to "in" on the RMB-1075, flip the 12V switch to on, and plugged the other end to "out" in my receiver. I leave the power button on the RMB on.

When I switch the receiver on and off, I do not see any change in the amp. How do I know if the Rotel is being switched to standby?

The reason I ask is because the amp stays fairly warm and I believe I've seen the amp protection lights flash before when I switch the receiver on/off. It doesn't do that anymore.

It's not triggering off. You will hear the distinctive relay click and see all the protection lights go on then off.

It sounds like either your receiver isn't sending a signal or the amp isn't receiving it.

What type of cable are you using? I know I either had to use a mono or stereo cable... I believe it was mono before mine worked properly (can't remember which though as it's not right in front of me).

Could be the cable is a stereo cable and you need a mono one (or vice versa).

It needs a mono cable.
The blue light on the 1075 will stay on all the time (with trigger set) irrespective of the amps state. You should hear a loud relay clunck when the amp powers on or off via the remote trigger.

I'm not sure whether it's a mono or stereo cable that I have so I'll check, but it's the small black cable that came with the amp.

I know that distinct clunk sound, I've heard it before when I first worked the trigger. Now when I switch the receiver on/off I do not hear the "clunk" at the amp. I think either the trigger function is not working at the receiver or the amp. I don't know which.

Interesting, my RMB-1075 has a red lamp for the power button, not blue. I wonder if it's because I have the black face amp? The circuit protection LED's are red.

Did you readjust any settings and turn the trigger "out" of the receiver to "off"?
Sounds like you had it functioning before, and whatever the change was (receiver, prepro, settings in the receiver) is the culprit.
The obvious would be to check for 12vdc at the cable, but not everyone has a meter.

Well, well. I found another interesting quirk about the RMB-1075 12V trigger last night.

I've always heard clicks in what I thought was my receiver whenever I used my receiver or cable box remotes. Last night I relocated my receiver away from the Rotel amp then I realized the clicks are coming from the Rotel amp, not the receiver!!

I scratched my head, then turned trigger switch to off and the noise stopped when I use my remotes. Can anyone explain this?? Does it damage the amp?

How does this happen?? The amp doesn't even have a remote sensor!

Do you still have the 12v trigger hooked up? Sounds like there is a problem with the 12v trigger on the receiver, producing small spikes in the 1075. I would remove the trigger cable and leave the switch off for now.

I think you're right.

I still have the cable running from the receiver to the amp. The clicking stopped when I turned the switch to off. I'll trying removing the cable but leaving the switch in on position to see if the clicking persists when I use the remote. If so, then it may be the amp.
