    Multiroom solution - options?

    I’m thinking about setting up a multiroom system using Rotel gear.

    What I need is:
    1. Main zone (5.1 with video);
    2. Two more A/V zones (stereo sound with video);
    3. One more audio zone (stereo).

    What I have in mind is RSX-1058 + RMB-1066.
    However I’m a little worried about video quality: as far as I understand, RSX-1058 supports only composite output for extra zones.
    I’m afraid this would mean a noticeable quality drop even for not so big screens (about 32”).

    Could you please confirm/dispel my concerns and/or suggest better options?
    Thank you in advance.

    Your bigger concern should be that the zone outputs are limited to the three composite inputs only. So you will have to pick which three sources you have to have video with.

    Rotel shouldn't have added two more zone outputs (and all 3 with video) and not kept the standard 5 composite inputs.

      Kevin, thanks for your comment.

      However three inputs seem enough to me (can think of just two sources as now).
      I assume it should be possible to hook the same source using HDMI (for main zone) and composite (for zones 2-3), let me know if I'm mistaken.

      Still I'm not sure whether video quality over composite would be ok (well, if Rotel supports it, it shouldn't be that bad, right?).

      In general, does anyone have several video zones? What is the best way to set it up using Rotel gear (or dare I say, something else)?

        Have a look at this link.

        I followed this advice and am using the repeater with success!

          Composite and S-Video WHY???
          by ktaillon
          Why do the manufactures still bother putting all those unused composite and S-video connectors on the back of the receivers and preamps? I can't remember when I had to use anything less than component.

          My current setup only uses digital video: cable box, dvd player and PC.

          OK... So hooking up Zone 2 now.

          The question I have is as follows ... I have the Sat receiver and DVD all hooked up by S-Video & Toslink and Component & Digital Coax respectively.

          Now if I understand the procedure properly I need to run a separate set of analogue...

          Rotel 1066 component video setup problem
          by mattstacey
          Hi guys,

          I just replaced my Denon 3802 with a Rotel 1066 yesterday, hooked up to a Rotel 1075 amp. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it yet but so far it sounds awesome.

          I have a problem with my video connections though. I had no problems with the Denon 3802 so...

          1068 Component Input - Composite Zone 2 Output?
          by Stevebez
          Is it possible to have component input to 1068, and have a composite output to zone 2? I.e. if ever you wanted to watch DVD in second Zone.

          1098 video upconversion?

          I posted this over at Home Theater Forum, but figured this was a better place. Sorry for the redundancy if any of you follow both forums!

          I just hooked up my new 1098 over the weekend. I haven't had any time yet to do any calibration and/or tweaking. I can't really comment on the 1098...
