    Power Conditioners for Europe?

Any news about possible power conditioners (RLC-1040, RLC-1080) for the european market? I'm wondering why Rotel is sticking with the US market only. For a few hundred euro I'd be more than happy to add a rotel power conditioner and surge protector to my hifi plus have somewhere to connect all those power cables.

    thanks..........miket

Because it's only necessary for the crappy US power supply?

Having lost CRT Monitors to powerspikes here in the states that maybe very true. 110 Volt is more sensitive to loads around the house than 220. What's actually in these? Has anyone used them and found actual improvements to sound/video?

Isotek UK produces excellent conditioners there in Europe.

Power conditioners are just an other way to make more money on useless pieces of equipment not unlike gold cables.

              Bring in marketing BS

Yep. Exactly. If a "power conditioner" brings you a sound improvement, something is VERY wrong with your house wiring and I wouldn't want to touch any electric equipment in that house again.

You pay more for your surge protection. And you can "shutdown your equipment properly" which is about the worst joke for audio equipment ever.

Nevertheless: power supply in North America sucks (!!) in comparison to Europe. When I'm printing with my Laser Printer, the lights start to flicker, when we turn the vacuum cleaner on, the lights dim, when we are cooking, we can't turn on all burners and the stove because it will kill the main switch. This is in a 3 year old "luxury condo building". What people here call "good power supply" would bring any electrician in Germany into jail. :M

Yeah, like cables, there are a lot of wonky products out there. Good to have a healthy sense of skepticism.

Until of course you find one that actually does some good. Power conditioners are quite easy to test for value. Plug in a TV set, if it does not improve picture quality then it's not worth buying.

                      Power surges

Power supply problems in the USA are nothing compared to the electricity crisis in South Africa. Load shedding is now a way of life - 2 hours power interruptions almost daily, predicted to last till 2012. Where I live a power station exploded the other day because it was never built to shut down and restart every day. Those affected have now been without power for 5 days. Power surges and destruction of sensitive electrical components occur daily. My hi fi equipment (Rotel amps and processor, and high end Panasonic projector) would not have survived without a Rotel power distributor (RLC 1050), heavy duty surge protector power plugs and a high quality UPS.

Power conditioning/regulation is not so much about improving sound quality (I certainly could hear no improvement) but safeguarding the equipment.

Since I have had way to much time on my hands lately due to work being slow and finding myself at home more than I would like I decieded to do some tweaking and testing of my current system.

I know this subject seems to get out of control and I'm not trying to start any trouble...I don't want to be exiled ..I'm just getting started..

My dealer was kind enough (I think) to lend me some Transparent power connectors...when I connected them in place of my OEM cables, I think...

I am curious how many of you guys are using PS audio power regenerator products www.psaudio.com. These are no ordinary power "conditioners".

I would be interested to know if anyone is using rotel amplifiers and preams in particular and how much improvement have you noticed....

I'm asked from time to time if I have any suggestions with regards to less expensive playback sources for digital music- usually along the lines of what cheap DVD player sounds fairly decent, or if there's a low buck universal player I would recommend. Hardly anyone ever asks what's a good inexpensive...

                        anyone using power conditioners?
                        by boothbrave
Anyone use power conditioners with their gear ? Do you think they're overpriced or even worth it ?

I heard amps should be plugged directly to the wall instead of these pwr. conditioners. Any reason why ?

                        Thanks
