    New-B-Looking for Rotel Recommendations

    I recently came across this site via the internet. Whoa! I am thrilled to see that there is actually a section dedicated to the Rotel product line. I recently heard the 1058 at a local dealer. And I know that I'm going to be replacing my current audio system with Rotel. But, as I've read more and more on the internet, I'm almost thinking that going the component route with a pro-pre amp and an amp might provide the sweetest sound.

    Guys, here is what I've got

    7.1 surround speaker system
    HD DVD
    Blu-ray
    OTA TV
    Directv HD DVR
    Pannasonic 200U Projector
    In addition I have an old amp that I used to use to power a couple of zones in a house I used to own.

    Guys, I'm in the learning mode, and I must admit that I'm better at the Video side of AV, so please help me learn. If this were your set up what would you do. I'm not afraid of purchasing from audiogon. And my budget is right around $1500.

    Recommendations, please!

      Too much Jack & Coke to give a full reply tonight, but hopefully this bump will get you some more replies.

      For now, I would check out the "1069 Known issues" thread to make sure your current projector will not give you any problems with the 1058 or 1069. They are essentially the same unit, the 1058 just has amps and a tuner.

              Second my question. As far as I know the RSX-1058 does not support 1080p24 passthrough out of the box, right? In the thread "RSP-1069, known issues..." a scaler-bypass upgrade was discussed....

              Is there a way to increase the brightness on the units faceplate display? I ask because I just picked up a 1058, and it's display brightness level is significantly less bright then a 1069 I have (in another room)... Actually hard to read from a normal seated TV viewing distance position.
