    Rotel RSDX-02e inputs/outputs etc...

    Hi guys,

I'm new to Rotel so bear with me

I have just been given a Rotel RSDX-02e and a set of Boston acoustics reference speakers which seems to be a fairly nice setup, to be honest i havent had a "hifi" for some years as my sound system has consisted of a pair of powered KRK RP6 monitor speakers for making music.

I have a couple of issues with this unit, primarily with inputs/outputs etc.

It seems to have Scart sockets on it rather than the Rotel RSDX-02 (without the e?!) the one i have was imported from South Africa by a friend several years ago and i assume it is a slightly different model?

Anyway, my main question is... is there any way of getting decent picture quality from the DVD player from a scart socket? i think the Rotel RSDX-02 has component out which would be ideal (i have a samsung L32R87 HDTV) The scart sockets seem to have a switch between RGB and Y/C

    manual here...

my other issues are just working out how to connect everything... My tv has 3xhdmi inputs, 1xcomponent, 1 vga, 2 scart, svideo

My PC is on the VGA socket, Xbox 360 on the component so how should i connect the DVD player?

also audio... the Xbox has digital audio out as does the TV but i cant connect both to the Rotel can I?

sorry to ask so many n00b questions.

    Dan,

Bit late here but hope this helps...going by the manual and back panel drawing not from direct experience of this box (just so you know):

    - You can get a SCART to component connector (assume if you can in Aus, then SA should be just as easy) so if you connect the Rotel TV SCART out to the TV by component then you have "best" video possible from the unit. Use connection number 37 from the manual drawings

    - PC into the Samsung via VGA is fine, but you are going to hit a wall with sharing the one component input I am guessing (I have a PS3 but assume you can just swap the XBOX 360 to an HDMI cable)

    - There are two digital inputs on the Rotel box, so you should be able to feed one coaxial SPDIF and one optical SPDIF connection to connections 31 and 32 on the back panel diagram. Hopefully you don't have both as optical - can't help if you do! I don't know if you can buy an optical switch but some of the more informed here might help

Anyway, hope this helps. PM me if anything not clear....

      thanks for that Darren,

I'll give the scart=>component converter a go, do you know if it will provide better picture than just using a scart cable (that really did look bad!)

The new xbox 360s have a HDMI but my slightly older one doesnt which is really very frustrating!

the other frustrating thing is that the xbox digital audio out is optical i believe as is the TVs digital audio out.

      i guess i've been a bit unlucky!

I think i might give up on the DVD player on the Rotel and use the PC or the Xbox drive, the problem with the PC is that i have 2 sound cards (one digi001 studio thing and the onboard - the Digi001 doesnt do windows sound duty very well) currently going into a pair of powered monitors and i cant work out how to get another output to go to the rotel but thats a different issue all together! I dont suppose you know of a reasonably cheap box that can switch between speakers? the outputs on the soundcard are 1/4 inch jacks.

        Dan,

Bit of a pain with the XBOX and two optical outputs. I haven't ever used SCART-SCART but SCART-Component out of our cable box was a big improvement over the standard Composite connection.

Don't know where you are, but I would do what you're thinking and use the XBOX as a DVD player with sound to the Rotel. You could run video from the XBOX through the Rotel but better just to go direct I would have thought.

        Cheers,

        Darren

p.s. It turns out you can buy optical switches from a quick google but I have no idea what the quality would be like

          thanks!

          cool, thanks for that.

at the moment i have the tv output running into a scart/phono thing into the TV section on the rotel which means that i get the TV audio coming through on the TV channel on the Rotel,

the only problem with this is that it is very slightly out of sync..

any suggestions for that? do you think that using the optical would help that?

            Dan,

There is a delay function in my 1055/1098 but not sure whether this box has same functionality. My guess is it won't help as the audio is already "behind" the TV image?

Nothing worse than a freebie that is "almost" good enough

Rotel 1060 Video connection with 1098/Plasma.
                by >>Angel<<
                Dear Rotel enthousiasts,

Yesterday I bought a Pioneer plasma screen to complete my Rotel setup
After concluding all the (required) connections I found out that there's a problem displaying (progressive or not) an 1060 image on the Plasma screen.
                I really hope...

Question: Projector widescreen stretching of HD-15 (VGA) sourced video
                by Jerri
I have an Xbox with a VGA (HD-15) adaptor. I understand the Xbox's widescreen 480p mode to use 640x480 anamorphically compressed video, similar to the 720x480 anamophically compressed video from a DVD player. I want to be able to connect the Xbox to a projector using the VGA adaptor and have it display...

Rotel 1066 component video setup problem
                by mattstacey
                Hi guys,

I just replaced my Denon 3802 with a Rotel 1066 yesterday, hooked up to a Rotel 1075 amp. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it yet but so far it sounds awesome.

I have a problem with my video connections though. I had no problems with the Denon 3802 so...

                Krell or stick with Rotel.
                by bimmer528
Hey guy, I am in the process of upgrading my processor (rsp-1066). Initially I was going to purchase the 1098 but taking a trip to my local dealer had my inpulses halted upon listening to Krell. Granted, I can't afford new krell or anything above krell's entry level (Kav).

                I can pick...

                Rotel issues
                by Wicked
I purchased a Rotel RSX-1058 back in 2007 so it is now out of warranty. At the present time the unit does not have any audio output.

I called the local Rotel dealer (Stereo Planet) who suggested I take the unit to a local electronics repair shop to have them check it out since they don't...
