    Problem with 1067. Thoughts?

Hello. My RSX-1067 has been trouble free for a couple of years. In the past week a problem has surfaced.

The first time I had the problem the unit powered up and I had normal audio for a couple seconds and then loss most of audio and what I could still hear was at a very low level and slightly distorted. If I turned the unit off and then back on the same thing occured (sound then no sound). I found that if I left the unit on for around 10 minutes and then shut it off and back on I had normal audio and it was maintained and the unit appeared to be operating normally. This pattern was maintained for a couple days (that is no sound after first couple seconds after power up and then eventually sounds comes on and is maintained).

The past 2 days I turn the unit on and have sound for a longer time 1+ minute and then lose it. After some period of time of leaving the unit on normal audio is restored and maintained.

I have the same problem regardless of the input source (HDTV DVR, CD, DVD) and whether or not I bypass the processing.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.. When you say bypassed, is that 2ch stereo BYPASS with an analog source? If not, try that. Or better yet hook something to the multi-channel in's and see if you get the same results.

If you get the same results then I would have to guess something in the amplifier circuit. Do you have an amp handy? You could hook it to the pre-amp outputs and narrow it down to the routing circuits or just the amps.

In either case I doubt it's anything you could fix yourself.

Yes. 2Ch via with my 1072.

I have a recent vintage Marantz receiver in another room that has 7 channel inputs. I could use that to test the 1067, right? I was going to put it in the Rotel's place for my planned lazy Thanksgiving day in the event the 1067 problems worsened.

The Marantz should work fine for your tests. Just put the Rotel at about 75-80 and use the volume on the Marantz.

Just to verify, be sure you're hitting the 2ch button twice to put it in 2ch BYPASS. Regular stereo still uses the DSP board.

Yet another question about RSX-1067 hiss/pop
          by rotelnyc2
          Hey all!

I'm a first time Rotel owner, been eyeing the RSX since the introduction of the 1065. First off, I did find a good amount of info on the hiss/pop issue amongst the threads, but didn't find much info on my questions and issues specifically so I decided to start a new thread,...

          1067 Tuner memory RBDS bug
          by Bostonears
When I went to program my favorite radio stations into the tuner of my 1067, I discovered a problem (and a workaround) if a station is broadcasting with RBDS (station info).

Normally, if I tune a station (non-RBDS), when I push the Memory button on the front panel, I can enter a number...

          Rotel 1067 Need Help!
          by captaincanuck
I purchased a Rotel 1067 at Christmas 04 and I need some assistance and/or your expertise. I think I have a bit of a problem. I'm using the Rotel with Definitive Tech speakers (7.1 DT2002's). After the unit has been on for a few hours its starts with a crackle (for lack of a better term) in one of...

Using 12v trigger to run accessory fans
          by cmr15
I've got a 1067 which runs rather hot, and I'm aware that that's the norm. I'm about to place it in a custom wall unit and need a little info regarding the use of fans and a 12v trigger.

What I'd like to do is use 2 accessory computer fans to circulate the air. One would pull in air...

HELP Rotel RSX 1067 screwed it up
          by NeilGabriel
I got this used, but think I caused the problem. When I set it up, I stupidly plugged the multichannel audio outs from my BR player into the multichannel outs of the receiver instead of the ins.

When played, the receiver went into max volume that could not be turned down until it hit...
