    Rotel 1080 blues

i have had a rotel set up for the past 3 months and have been fairly happy with its perfomance i yesterday picked up hum in the right channel which was previously not there before so i check the interconnects and the speaker wire to make sure everything was connected solid, that didnt help so i changed inteconects and that didnt work, put back the old ones and changed channels around, all that did was move the humm from one channel to the next, turned it off and on again but this time amp went dead, the only light that goes on is the light to indicate that the amp is on and there isnt that clicking sound where i turn it on on, have i broken it  So i unplgged everything and put it in the closet connected my realiable ONKYO 501E.

Was the unit on while you were plugging and un-plugging things? That could have caused some issues.

Of course when you you say the hiss moved from one channel to the other, that usually indicates the original problem wasn't with the amp.

Did you buy the amp used? If so it might not have every had the updates applied to keep it from blowing fuses easily. Chances are it's just a couple of fuses blown inside the unit.

          Impressions on the NAD M51
          by PewterTA
Well I've had my NAD M51 for over a week so far using it everyday and I figured I'd post up some impressions and opinions on the DAC. First I will say that my unit is a factory (NAD) refurbished which saved a few hundred bucks on the unit. I ordered it from SpearIt Sound up in Massachusetts and they...

First I will say that my unit is a factory (NAD) refurbished which saved a few hundred bucks on the unit. I ordered it from SpearIt Sound up in Massachusetts and they were top notice professional throughout the whole ordering process and are an authorized NAD Dealer. Upon arrival, I have to say I had all the factory boxes (double boxed) with the NAD sealed tape across...

          RMB-1095 Blowing Fuses
          by MartinK
I just bought a used RMB-1095 from a user on Audiogon. I powered up the unit and right off the bat the center channel fault light went on. I replace all of the fuses and all seemed well.

I was watching a movie to test out the system and after deciding that all was well paused the film...

from today's edition of "The Writer's Almanac"

It's the birthday of the blues composer W.C. Handy, born in Florence, Alabama (1873). His father and grandfather were Methodist ministers, and he grew up in a cabin on the Tennessee River. He showed musical promise very early. As...
