    RMB-1095 Blowing Fuses

    I just bought a used RMB-1095 from a user on Audiogon. I powered up the unit and right off the bat the center channel fault light went on. I replace all of the fuses and all seemed well.

    I was watching a movie to test out the system and after deciding that all was well paused the film to eat dinner and walked away. After eating for several minutes I heard a little pop and all of a sudden the Front L and Rear L protection lights came on. I don't even have a Rear L speaker hooked up!!!

    It's most likely the fuses, but is this normal?

    I'm running Mordaunt Short Performance 860 fronts and a Mordaunt Short MS821C center, RSP-1098 pre-processor and a powered MS T2000 subwoofer.

    Any thoughts?

      No, that's not normal at all. I've never replaced a fuse in mine and it's 3 or 4 years old now (first batch of the changed binding posts).

      One thing I'd do is open up the unit and make sure it's cleaned out. IT's amazing what dust can do and a lot of people will dust the outside of the amp/processor, whatever, but the inside is never cleaned. Could try that.

      Otherwise, you probably need get it repaired or send it back to the person you bought it from stating it's faulty.

          Definitely not normal, I've had my 1095 for five years and it's never blown a fuse.

              Check your speaker wire too, if it's been compromised in anyway it could short out the amp. I would first start examining the wiring for the center channel that was causing the protection light to come on.

                  RB991 or 1080 fuses blowing !!!

                  Hello everyone, im new here but i couldnt resist, as ive had nothing but blowing fuses since ive owned my RB991 ( same as the 1080 apart from the remote trigger)

                  So far :my amp was originally driving 4 ohm sub in an enclosed space, fuses would blow on a regular basis, Lots of blame went...

                  Hi all...

                  The problem: My RB-991 blew its main 12-amp fuse the other day (the fuse you can easily change from the back). I tried 10-amp fuses, but blew three in a row. No other components or speakers were hooked up to the amp. I unplugged the amp from the wall before swapping fuses....

                  ..new to this forum, happy to see so many folks enthused about the Rotel equipment.

                  I have a RB-870 which is blowing the rail fuses on the Left channel. I can't think of anything in particular to have caused it... the unit has been working flawlessly for 25...

                  My Rotel RA-1062 stopped working in standby, nothing playing, just was dead in the morning.

                  It keeps blowing the fuses F603 and F604 when I switch it on. Those next to the toroidal transfomer. They blow immediately no speaker or input attached.

                  Any chance to get the service...

                  I have a new RB 1080 that has blown it's one of internal fuses (the ones between the power supply and the output stage) twice for the left channel. This is my second unit, the other blew the right channel fuses. Once replaced (with 6.3Amp slow blow fuses. the amp is fine again).                  ...
