Why you should never read the manual!

Other day the new 1067 was acting up, would respond extremely slow to the remote, wouldnt change inputs etc etc.
The night before while leafing through the manual I spied that the 1067 can supposedly handle the 192k bitstream from the DVD player so I changed that setting on the DVD player and went to bed shortly thereafter, next day the symptoms started then I remembered the last thing I changed I switched the DVD player back to 96k and problem solved?? been fine for 2 days now so its safe to assume thats it.
So this is why I typically don't read the manual, I have to fidget with it till it breaks!
Anyone know why this would be an issue? I was just playing a standard cd at the time, nothing fancy. Could any damage have occured? Software glitch? I'm stumped.

The Rotel tech help line is very quick about getting back to questions asked. Give Shaun a try - I have always been impressed by their customer support.

Looking over the manual, the 192 spec is only in the final listing, but isn't mentioned in the body of the manual. My guess is it can handle it with limitations. The DSP chip can get bogged down playing a DTS track and down-mixing the center and center rears back into the other speakers. You'll have a loss of dynamics when playing DTS on a 4.1 system.

It might play a 192 track fine if the front speakers were set to large, sub to yes so it doesn't have to handle the signal and apply a crossover.

My understanding--at least for the RSP-1068--is that it can only handle 192kHz in two-channel mode. For 5.1, it only supports 96kHz. Or maybe this is just what my DVD-Audio player can provide, and the processor can only do 96kHz period (I've never seen 192kHz appear on the display).

i have to agree with "blindmood" on two channel supporting the 192khz and the 5.1 only supporting the 96khz

Ahh that makes sense, the 192k in two channel mode only, I don't remember what the other settings were at.

Thanks all, if it pops up again I'll try tech support. having come from mostly consumer stuff I never even thought to try it

              Can my 601 s3's handle a Rotel 1070?
              by corysmith01
              Hi-

I just purchase a Rotel RB1070 to beef up my 2 channel listening, which I do more of than movie watching. As I'm waiting for it to arrive, I decided to download the manual and read a little about it. Inside the manual, this advice was offered by Rotel:

              by lars
              Hello All,

I haven't been very happy with the sound from my setup, so as a last ditch effort (because I just didn't want to believe the problem is my 1067), I tried connecting a 500 Euro Yamaha receiver and, rather unfortnately, it sounded considerably better than my considerably more...

              Hi everyone,

I've had a 1067 for several months now and finally got around to setting it up to do video switching for 480P input from my dvd player and HD input from my cable hd-dvr box. I connected the component output from those 2 sources to the 1067 and then the component output from...

Yet another question about RSX-1067 hiss/pop
              by rotelnyc2
              Hey all!

I'm a first time Rotel owner, been eyeing the RSX since the introduction of the 1065. First off, I did find a good amount of info on the hiss/pop issue amongst the threads, but didn't find much info on my questions and issues specifically so I decided to start a new thread,...

              1067 Tuner memory RBDS bug
              by Bostonears
When I went to program my favorite radio stations into the tuner of my 1067, I discovered a problem (and a workaround) if a station is broadcasting with RBDS (station info).

Normally, if I tune a station (non-RBDS), when I push the Memory button on the front panel, I can enter a number...
