My budget is between 5 to 1K. I'm open to "old school" speakers as well. I dont care much for "bright" sounding speakers. Thanks.

I too vote for the 603s. I have the 603 series 2 with a Rotel 1056, and it's a great pairing. After a while, add an RMB-1075, and the B&Ws will really open up.Comment

602s3
Iam running a pair of 602s3 in another room with a rb1070 and rc1070 with a project TT and think that the sound quality for the money was a great deal. I did have a Phase sub in the mix, but felt that it wasnt needed any longer with the 602's. The B&W's have pretty good base for a bookshelf style speaker. Recently I swapped out the Rotels for a Phase Linear 400 and Carver C4000 which gave me more control, and in my opinion better imaging. Even with this vintage equipment the 602's sounded great. I believe that you will not be disappointed with these B&W's. Just my 2 cents.Comment

I would recomend you check out AuiogoN before looking on E-bay. I have used AudiogoN a number of times and the people there are usually very honest.Comment
