    Rsx-1057??

One of the family receivers is starting to not work too well any more (it is over 15 years old after all). This gives me the opportunity to replace the receiver in my "theater room" and move that one to replace the old one that's not working.

In my "theater room" (not a true theater room but as close as I'm going to have), I currently have a Yamaha RX-V2200 that's maybe 5 years old. It is rated at 100W/channel. My current speakers are as follows:

    Klipsch RF-5 fronts
    Klipsch RC-7 center
    Klipsch RS-25 surrounds
and a Velodyne SPL-1200 series II sub.

Room dimensions are approx 13' x 12' that opens into another larger room through basically a large open archway.

A few months back, I bought a new 2 channel system consisting of Rotel separates (RCD-1072, RC-1070, RB-1080) and B & W 703s. I've been very happy with that set up, so my questions is, do you think the Rotel RSX-1057 would be sufficient for this set-up at a true 75X/channel (I don't know how true the Yamahas are rated). I don't see ever needing a 7 channel set up, the room is not set up well for that.

The Klipsch are pretty efficient, rated at 99dB for the fronts, 98dB for the center and 96dB for the surrounds, so I am thinking the Rotel should work pretty well for now.

I've been very happy with my B & W 703 and was thinking that down the road I may replace my Klipsch with some B & W 704, a HTM7, and DS7's (90, 91, and 89 dB) at which time I could add a maybe a RMB-1075 using the 1057 as my pre-amp and maybe a dedicated Pre-Pro down the road. HDMI is not a big deal for me right now, but I know things are going that way. Sound quality is my biggest concern.

So oh great ones ;x( , what do you think, is this a worth-while move and would it be an upgrade?

I'd put up Rotel 75w vs Yamaha/Denon 125w any day.

    Also keep in mind that the audible difference between 75w and 100w isn't noticeable unless you're listening at max volume. In which case your hearing is so damaged that it wouldn't matter anyway (;

I would have no issues running a 1057 on your Klipsch's. And a 1075 would be perfect for future 700 series.

I think you would be pleased.

        Ted,
I use a 1056 (1057's predecessor) to run my RF 7 series for ht in a 15x17x7 room and it never sees the volume go above 60, and that tends to be loud depending on application.
It should give you plenty of sound.

Thanks for the responses so far.

How about sound quality? I realize it is all personal opinion, but does any one have any personal experience comparing Yamaha and Rotel?

          Thanks!!

My 1st Rotel made a huge sonic difference over the Yamaha reciever it replaced 2 channel speaking.
I have since moved upstream of both for 2 channel, and wouldn't notice the difference for ht as "purity" was not my goal as much as the "wow" factor.

              RMB1077 and RSX1057 system
              by bullitt731
I was planning on using an RSX1057 as a processor with an RMB1077 hooked up to a pair of B&W 804s and a HTM3s. Orignally I thought I would biamp and biwire the L and R fronts using 4 channels of the RMB1077 while using the remaining 3 channels to drive the center and back surrounds.

              Classe CAV-75 vs Rotel RSX1057
              by sskim
I'm currently running 805S with Rotel 1057 receiver which is rated at 75 wch. Even though I'm happy with the sound at the moment--50/50 HT/Music--I do sometimes wish for warmer, smoother sound, especially at higher volumes. If money wasn't an object then things might be different but I've been thinking...

Info and input on the Klipsch RSW-12 sub
              by trackbird
I've been lurking around here for a little while and I only turned up one thread in my search that was related to the Klipsch RSW-12. In that thread Dr. Rapp said it wasn't one of Klipsch's best (which is good info, but I'd like to get some clarification).

              My question is this:
