With regards to higher end CE companies making anouncements Merridian has voiced support for HD DVD. So Rotel charges and extra 1k for a processor that supports it and release it in Q4. Is that such a big stretch?
Meridian have always been a relatively early adopter of new formats ,they were the first specialist manufacturer in the world to develope a cd player ,although it was based on the Philips CD 100.Meridian have a very close association with Faroudja and so video developement may be easier for them than some of the other specialist companies.Imo the two manufacturers I specifically mentioned are better indicators of the acceptance and viability of new technology as they only appear to release machines once a format has gained long term viability.
So Rotel not making any anouncements about new products that will deal with HD demands is not unusual given that state of flux of the new technologies and their past history of releasing products later rather than sooner.
It would have been great to have new pre/pros and recievers with all the latesr widgets released at ces but I would prefer to wait till both the market and the technology are a bit more mature and reliable before seeing Rotel release new prodcuts.

        RSX1057 vs. RSX1058
        by unclemick
So in my hopes to find a deal on a 1058 to replace my 1057, I have a question. My 1057 suffers from lack of HDMI not to mention that the HDMI does only video. My question is, can the 1058 accept a component video input, yet output to one of it's HDMI outputs? My 1057 can't and I would love to just...

Dang... I really tried to go to CES this year. I have event tickets and everything. Unfortunately, couldn't make it happen, and instead I'm actually at the very tip of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska right now.

Some news from Parasound at CES 2010. Sweet. Wish I was there. Anybody...

OK, this title is a bit presumptuous, but I found the original article/page very interesting, and came upon it only by happenstance in the course of a tangentially related search.

        No audio through HDMI (RSX1058)
        by Claw
As you may know through some previous posts, I purchased an RSX-1058 HT receiver. I've been playing around with it for the past few days and have run into some problems.

With my PS3 hooked up directly to my display via the HDMI cable, I'm getting excellent picture and some sound....
