Rotel 1068 - Software version ?

Hello all, just a quick question here. My 1068 is currently running v1.1.9. Is there any benefit to moving it up to the most recent version? Does the old addage apply here, if it isn't broke, don't fix it?

Essentially, unless you have a SA cable box, it's probably not worth it.

While I'm still on the subject of the 1068, has anyone else had their rear surround speakers act like they are the front left and right? It usually occurs when I first put in the dvd and it tries to go through the trailers, like it has a hard time picking up the bitstream or something.

To get out of it, I usually just cycle into standby, wait a second, then turn back on. This always fixes the problem. Was just wondering if others have experienced this.

The fix for the SA cable boxes also works with other slightly out of spec digital sources. Update it to 1.2.2 and see if that fixes the issue.

You can also try changing to another input and back to the DVD input instead of reseting the power in the mean time.

If it's not on Rotel's website it's probably an update only needed for slight hardware changes. Chances are if you apply it to a model that didn't come with that version you might break something.

I would email Rotel directly and see. I've also seen 1.2.5 that was never released except on newer models.

Hold down mute on the remote for about 4-5 seconds. This should show the version on the front display.

You can also use the mute on the front of the 1068 itself. I found it easier to read it once it was displayed. Ok, so my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Dynamic range: with dvd video, i go to the menu/monitor output, i try to change the dinamyc but i press the dyn taste and on the 1068 display nothing! - solution? better range for multi channel dvd movie min. mid. or max?

Anyone who wants to install the 1.2.5 update, however, will still need the software utility that was included (on the Rotel web site) with the 1.2.2 update. The 1.2.5 file you posted includes only the actual install (.bin) file.
