    1068 Software Update completed, However...

    Hi all,

The software update has been completed for my RSP 1068. I am running the latest version. My friend did the job. He installed the software upgrades first and then realized that the EPROM should have went first. Does it really matter and would it affect anything?

Secondly, anyone who has done the upgrade with the 1068 experience a decrease in volume? My re-calibration last night ended up like this: FL- 0db, Center channel -1 db, FR- 0db, SR- 0db and SL- +4 db. It seemed to me that before the software upgrade it seemed louder in the 40db region. Now when I listen to my cable box- digital radio station I have to turn it up to 56 db to get some real volume.

Any thoughts, comments, experience is much appreciated. I just want to know if this is normal or do I need to do reinstall the program again? I sure hope not. Thanks in advance all.

Doesn't matter when you did the eeprom update, works out the same. Did you do a factory default after the upgrades? Very important or you might get some weirdness.

Could be some interesting things dealing with the volume as a lot of the updates took care of digital input signals. If you haven't done a default, do that and report back. If you have, what version did you start with?

If you meant it was loud at 40 on the volume, but now needs to be around 56 on the volume (Rotel does not use any form of dB scale on the volume, and the level is not linear), you are actually getting closer to the norm. Most people seem to find normal levels around 50 and loud levels around 70.

Yes, I did do a factory default after the upgrades. Would it hurt to do another factory default? Do you recommend it?

Not sure what you mean by this question. Do you mean what version I had prior to the update or the version I started with when doing the update?

Anyways, prior to starting the udpdate I had version 1.1.3. and I believe my friend who did the update started with the version just after this one. I can ask him though.

Maybe I'm my ears are just getting used of it being louder. Who knows. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the preamp and was a bit worried something screwed up during the software upgrade causing it to malfunction. Anyways, thanks Kevin for sharing your comments. Much appreciated.

Problems with MXEditor Live Update after DPLIIx software update
        by Chris D
Weird. I downloaded the DPLIIx update to two different computers I own, including the new MXEditor software version. Got through the update okay, following the instructions for both Halo Control and MXEditor. So far so good. I ran the MXEditor program Live Update, which downloaded a rather large...

        1066 Default Setting
        by Parrot Head
I need to ask what may be a dumb question about the 1066’s Default Setup. I’ve been adjusting the rear channel settings via the remote to approx. +7dB. I find this (although it may be a bit exaggerated) improves the surround experience when listening to basic cable.

        My problem...

I just received a new RSX-1055 with software version V2.20. Since this unit is brand new I was hoping it would have the latest software. After reading this forum I discovered there is a new update to the software currently available. Tim, at Rotel, told me via e-mail that there is no official software...
