    1080 for center speaker?

Hi, I plan on getting B&W 704 for L & R and the HTM7 as a center. I wish to power the 704's with a 1080 and the HTM7 with another 1080. Will this stereo amp be okay at powering the HTM7 using either the Left or right channel (mono)? The HTM7 is bi-wirable, do you think i should bi-amp the HTM7; does this mean i need to split the center pre-out into two RCAs for the 1080's L & R pre-ins (is there any problems encountered when doing this)?

    Thankyou.

    yes it will be okay.

yes you can bi-amp the htm7, otherwise the other channel would just be hanging around doing nothing

yes, you just split the pre-out to input both left and right channels on the 1080 to be used for the center.

no, there shouldn't be any problems when doing something like this ... just don't forget to remove the jumper pins on your center speaker

    good luck

      Thanks for the reply.
It's just that i bought a pioneer cd/mp3 head unit for my car a couple of years ago and it only has one Rca out. When I asked a car audio salesmen about getting a dedicated subwoofer amp he said that I would have been better off with a head unit with three rca outs and that i would lose quality running two amps or more due to a voltage loss (i think) when splitting the Rca.

Has anyone ever heard of this before and can they explain; is this not the same situation as above?
      Thanks.

splitting RCA's has so minimal a signal loss that it doesn't matter.

I'm betting inside the head unit with three RCA outs, is a simple splitter - so it's just the same IMO.

make sure to get a quality splitter

I guess it is better to get the good quality cable splitter itself as one part.... Monster no good....

No difference in sound quality one way or another, whether its Monster or not.

705 vs HTM7 for center channel
                by JohnnyH
I'm considering a piece of furniture that will not hold a HTM7 center, but would hold a 705. Are there any advantages to the HTM7 over a 705. Mains will either be 705's or 704's. Probably 704.

This is the credenza I'm considering. http://www.diamondcase.com/Evolution/Evolution_...

Living with and without a center channel
                by csuzor
I have finally sold my HTM7. I found myself listening to its boxiness, its inability to reproduce the clarity of the 703, instead of just enjoying a movie or the music. It had to go.

Now, without a center speaker, watching a movie is terrible. The sound is very inaccurate, the phantom...

                Amp for new 804S
                by wb2fcr
In a previous thread I posted regarding my recent purchase of pair of B&W 804S speakers to replace my B&W 602.5s. I'm also using B&W 600 for surrounds and B&W HTM7 for center (which needs to be upgraded to HTM3).

I'm very happy with the 804s but quickly realized the Denon...

                RB-1080 as an upgrade...?
                by weijst
                Hi all,

I'm driving my B&W 705s (and HTM7) with the rare combination 1068/1075 . However, ever since I bought my Rotel gear I've been fascinated by the RB-1080 (or the RB-1090 for that matter, but that's beyond my budget).

Now I'm thinking about investing in a better...

Center and front right channels on 1075 dead
                by will1066
I was watching a movie tonight and the center channel began crackling and popping. I thought my center speaker had gone south, but testing revealed the center channel on the amp died. I use a separate stereo amp, so I have two spare channels available. Moved the preout and speaker-level connections...
