    1066 & RB985 - too quiet

I've just built a new system, comprising the RSP 1066, RB985 Mk 2 and Dynaudio 42 speakers all round. I'm amazed at how quiet the system is. I'm never one for high volumes, and I know the Dynaudios aren't the most effiecient speakers but I'm amazed to find myself listening at MAX volume, and I wouldn't say it sounds loud.
Is the amp underpowered for my speakers, or am I missing something in the settings?

Just one quick thought. Have you calibrated your speakers utilizing an SPL meter? If not you may wish to try this option.

    Hope this helps,

I own the RB985MKII + RB-981 as well, and it drives Jmlab speakers. The rears are still Tannoy's M1, and they are just as efficient as you Dynaudio's.

Dynaudio is less efficient, but only about 2 Db less than average. It is not like old Rogers like 85Db/W/m.

Your 985 should produce more than enough power. Try to recalibrate your speakerlevel using a Db meter.

RB985 or RMB1066, which to keep?

        Hi all

A long time ago I bought a RSP970 pre-amp and RB985 5x100 power-amp, which I have used for a while and been pretty happy with.

However the pre-amp didn't do do anything digital or proper 5.1 surround, so I decided to upgrade it. I found on ebay someone who was selling...

        Rotel Amps w/ Dynaudio
        by Al
        Hi, a first-timer here!

It seems there are more B&W's hooked up to Rotels than
other speaker brands or at least a favorite.

I would be interested to know how
        Rotel amps ; i.e. RB-1080, RMB-1075, and RB-1070 handle
the load of either Dynaudios floorstanding...

        RB985 or RB985 MKII
        by Jim456
        Hi everyone,
I am new to seperate and Rotel. Got a used RB985 amp a week ago. Now I see someone is selling RB985 MKii. It is just $130 higher than my RB985. Should I go for the newer MKii or just keep the MKi. How is the sound between them? Also, what is the lifespan of Rotel Amps. Is...
