Connecting a RB-1080 and an RC-1070 they switch on

Ok...now that I have your attention.
I am decidedly non-techie. When I read manuals and instructions , I generally stare at the page alot, scratch my head and say, " What da..."
I have an RB 1080 amp and an RC-1070 pre-amp.
I've read the manual, but can't figure out how to get everything to turn on at once.....? Ya know, turn on the pre-amp and everything...Amp, PreAmp all come on together.
And please try and make the explanation simpple. My brain can't take much more...
    Gracias
    Don

You should see a 12 Volt trigger socket (take one of those Mono-Headphone like connectors) on the RC-1070 and a simular one on the RB-1080 (unless you bought them used, the older ones don't have it).

Connect them using a male-male Mono Phone jack cable... IE: connectors with this end on them:

You may want to avoid the 12V trigger on the RB-1080 since some owners have had fuse plowing issues on the 1080. Not that this has anything to do with 12V trigger; a safety measure maybe. Those who have avoided the 12V trigger have had less fuse problems. Just a heads-up Don.

If my trigger causes a problem I'd have Rotel fix it,triggers are kinda handy. For some reason Rotel is the only units I've ever owned that don't have the trigger delayed by a few seconds(after pre/pro on) to turn on the amp.

Shouldn't that be something they can add to a software update?

On my RB-1092 the amp comes on a few seconds after the pre and turns off a few seconds after the pre.
