I'm using a yamaha rx-v 657 to run my rb-1080 running paradigm studio 100 v3's. I'm waiting until rotel releases its new multichannel pre amp that will support all the new upcomming formats. For now the rx-v 657 is doing a darn good job. -
IK use the ultimate in silent pre-amps. It's called no pre amp. My Shanling CDT 100a CD player has digital volume control so I run it DIRECTLY into my RB 1080...... sweetJerry RappaportComment

As mentioned in my earlier post, I just added an RB1080 to power my front speakers. And the result is, in a word, WOW. Soundstaging, detail and bass oomph are much better than with my other, ageing power amps -- B&K ST2002 and Marantz M500 monoblocks.
