is it true that the Rotel RDV-1060 can't play a DVD+RW?

Hello everybody,

I have a lot of home made DVD+RW. I am still interested in the Rotel RDV-1060 player. But is it true that it is not possible to play a DVD+RW (made on my computer and a lot of digital Hi-8 film on it). My ordinary Philips DVD-player (4 years old) can handle it!
Is it a software problem they can fix in the nearby future?

Second question: is the progressive scan the same as DVI, can you advise me which projector is a good one in combination with the RDV-1060 (projector: 16:9, high ansi-lumen, high contrastt, for a bearable price).

Need your advise!

I tried both DVD+R and DVD+RW disks in the 1060, and to my surprise the +RW disk worked whereas the +R one did not. Usually it's the opposite. I still suggest you try YOUR disks to verify this. Out of the players I tried (just a few), only the Yamaha 740 and Sony 665 played both. The Yamaha CX-1 and S2300 only played the +RW format as well. I tried much of the Denon line and it was a crap shoot the entire way.

I'm not sure if a software change will remedy this as the refelctivity is different between the two types of disks. I did do a firmware update with my HP DVD200i burner that supposedly enhanced the +RW burning process to make them more compatible. However, I haven't done any testing to verify any improvements.

I may be resigned to getting one player for home movies and another player for the hollywood crap.
