    RDV1060 DVDA Problem

I've had my RDV1060 for a few weeks now and finally got round to buying a DVD Audio (Under Rug Swept - Alanis Morrisette). When I insert the disc the player picks up that it is a DVDA and shows 96-24MLP on the display. However, that's about all that happens beyond a bit of clicking. The timer eventually shows 0:00:00 but I get no music. If I try going to the Title Menu I just get static.

Anybody got any ideas? I've seen the threads relating to problems with DVDA's and updating the firmware but I'm not sure that this disc should have these problems (it's a Warner disc)?

I checked my firmware and got the following info:

    ESS CODE ID: 3146
    CODE VER: 211
    26-2-2004 HANEX VER 1 .2EUR
    SUM: 2E07 ORG:AC2B REGION:0
    CPU CLOCK: 27MHz
    PIC VER: 2.7
    CYC: 32 BIT: 24
    AUTHOR: LI CHANG TAI

Although the picture and sound quality is great I find the drive is a little noisy which is noticeable at low volume levels. It also seems to be slow at reading discs. Is this normal?

Any help you can provide is most appreciated.

I have used many DVD-As in the RDV1060, and on only one have I ever experienced a
similar problem (Santana Supernatural), either unable to read or a blast of pink noise. The problem is intermittent, and I've chalked it up to a bad DVD.

As for long load times, that is my experience also.

This may have been addressed in the latest update (2.12 I believe). Contact your dealer and see if they can get it for you (it's a CDrom update).

Took it back to the dealer today on Rotel's advice. They tried a Corrs DVDA and that locked the player completely! It's now on it's way back to Rotel for repair. I'll let you know the outcome.

          1060 issues for me too

I have gone through 2 1060s in the last 8 months and the latest has been in service for 3 weeks now. Just hope your situation pans out better than mine.

I have owned 6 previous DVD players (all less expensive) and never had a problem with any of them; quite frustrating when you consider the 1060 price.

          Good luck
          Rob

Cheer Rob. I'm a bit worried now though. Having said that other than the DVDA problem I was very happy with the player so hope getting this fixed doesn't cause any DVDA or CD problems.

Still, looking on the bright side, surely it can't be worse than my old Denon 2800II?!

Got my player back on Saturday and it nows plays my DVDA fine. Pretty impressed at the speed that this was turned around (1 week). From checking the firmware settings the SUM version has now changed (can't remember what to). Does this mean they've fitted a new board?

Hopefully all will be well with the player from now on.

Yes, it's still 211. I'm not sure why they didn't upgrade this to 212 at the same time.

RDV-1060 update to fix DVDA, does exist!
                    by Kevin D
Just to let you know, Mike at Rotel definately knows about the DVDA problem that reverts the 1060 to SCART mode, and they have an update. I know some people got the update, while others were getting the run-around..

They were pretty serious about saying you could really mess up your...

                    progressive on RDV1060
                    by sirbogey
My RDV1060 came back from Rotel with an exchanged tray. When I put in a DVD or CD, it takes like 10 secs for the disc to load. This was a matter of 2-3 secs before. What have they done to it?

Another question: I changed the picture to watch a movie in progressive mode. When I do that,...

Help on setting up for DVDA
                    by Danbry39
Just bought my first DVDA, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and need to know how to set up the Rotel 1066. Denon 1600 DVD player to output DVDA. Right now, I've placed the disc in the 1600 and sound seems to come out of all speakers after I pushed the Multi Imput button on the Rotel's front panel. The display...

                    DVD Audio
                    by Greg Stone
My dvd player, a Tosh SD-4700 prog scan, is DVD Audio compatible. I see the extra outputs on the back of it for 5.1, but am wondering do I have to use this to enjoy DVD Audio, or can I play a DVDA disc with the player hooked up solely to my Denon receiver? See my profile if needed for my equipment list....

                    DVDA/SACD Connections to 1066

I am considering purchasing a Pioneer 563A ($180) universal player to replace my Toshiba SD5700. I am currently using just the digital connection (not using the 5 analog cables for DVDA). This will be my first experience with DVDA/SACD in conjunction with my 1066 so please bear with me.
