Why no color running DVD through RSX-1056?

    Guys,

I was running a component cable directly from my RDV-1060 to my Panny projector. Yesterday I tried to hook up the video out to my RSX-1056 using s-video (I had a good s-cable handy and no second component cable) then use the component monitor out to go to the Panny projector. Accordding to the manual all video inputs are sent to the component out, so that should work, shouldn't it? I managed to get picture and sound, but strangely enough no color. Only black and white image. I checked the settings to see if I accidentally turned on some sort of black and white setting, but this does not appear to be the case. Any hints on what could be amiss???

If I only want to use one video out (only use one source for video), are there any advantages to first connecting the video out of the RDV-1060 to the RSX-1056 and then sending it to the projector from the 1056 (instead of going straight from the RDV-1060 to the projector)?

    Thanks for any help guys!

I think it's to do with your pal/ntsc setting. Try changing that in the 1056 menu.

I'm thinking a pin or 2 are broken on your S video cable. Try Composite to see if you get color pass. If so, you need a new S video cable.

If I use the s-video cable to send picture directly from the RDV-1060 to the projector, I get a color image, so the cable should be ok. Perhaps the s-video in connector on the RSX-1056 is faulty. Good idea to try using composite. Will do so tonight.

I will also check the NTSC/PAL setting.

Yep, the 1056 was still setup for NTSC, so switching to PAL solved the problem! Woohoo :T

Thanks again for the help guys!

Just as the question states, I'm looking to go with a front projector (probably LCD) in the next year and was wondering if this is something I also need to save for. I currently have the RSP-1066 and will be running the following:

HD Sat. -either with DVI or component out(I also need...

              Xbox: S-Video AND Component Outs?

              Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to get S-video AND component video signals out of an Xbox? I know you can purchase S-video OR component video cables, but I'm not aware of anything that does both concurrently.

Unfortunately, I need S-video for the TV and component for...

How do you feed the signal to your projector?
              by P-Dub
I'm just curious. I've got a traditional HT setup, equipment rack next to the TV. If I was to get a projector, I'd have that mounted close to the back wall, or on the ceiling. But distance from my DVD player to the projector concerns me. Firstly, how long can you run component cable before signal degredation?...

              RSP-1069 and no 24fps video
              by Guybrush
I finally bought the RSP-1069 but I have a big problem with it.
I connected my PS3 with the RSP-1069 via HDMI1 and I connected the HDMI OUT to my Optoma HD80.
I have seen that in the HDMI menu of my RSP-1069 I have bypass option (that really made me happy at first), and I used it.
