    RB-1080 versus Outlaw 2200 M-block?

Please let me know how these amps compare? Speakers are B&W 704s.

    interesting question...

I was looking at the Outlaw site....quite impressive for the price...

My only concern is in the price tag on customs? (I live in Canada)...

I used to own Outlaw mono block. It was quite good for the price. But RB-1080 is much better , but that's just my opinion.

I've bought photographic and audio gear (mainly speaker parts) over the last few years and have never paid any customs to bring items from the US to Canada.

You will have to pay GST and PST, just like you do at all stores down the street from wherever you live in Canada, and depending on the shipper will have to pay a border clearing fee - sometimes called a customs fee by the courier companies. US Post/ Canada Post have an arrangement where border clearing fees are zero or $5, depending on the item - get shipping by them rather than courier companies to save on these fees.

Lastly, check with customs for the particular item you're buying to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

There have been a number of QC problems with the Outlaw monos. I think they are made overseas unlike their multichannel offerings. The Rotel competes very well with amps two to three times its price. IMO the Outlaw is not in the same league.

I had 5 Outlaw monos, never a problem with any of them. Nice sound and ran cool. I kept one for center duty. For the money they are great. For 2 channel I went to Krell. The Krell had a lower noise floor and more power, but it should at 10x the price.

                by rav934
Spent considerable time this weekend comparing the Rotel 1080 and Outlaw Mono block 2200 amps driven by the RX-V2500 pre-amp with B&W 804s speakers.

Listened to jazz, rock, big band, classical.

                My impressions:

RX-V2500 direct to 804s...decent bass but...

                RB991/RB1080 for Dyn Audience 82
                by Belgarath99
                Hi

I have heard that this is the best forum to talk Rotel.

I am thinking of buying an used Rotel RB991 to add to my HT setup. I will use the pre-out of my Denon AVR 3805 to connect to the power amp to drive my Dynaudio Audience 82 speakers.

                I have heard comments...

                RB1070 V's RB1080 any diff
                by bleeding ears
                Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the difference soundwise between the RB1070 and the RB1080?

At nearly double the price, does the RB1080 sound any better than the RB1070? (RB1080 = $1600 V's RB1070 =$900) Thats recommended full retail prices in Australia.

A friend of mine had a few days left before he had to return his 950 back to Outlaw (he bought the AT Clone and uses an Anthem Pre2L for his 2 channel listening). I thought why not? This is a good chance to try the Outlaw in my system for a couple days. I did a few comparisons the past 2 nights and...

Apparently the Outlaw people are coming out with a new receiver which they will preview at the Home Exhibition show in New York.

Their first receiver sold like gangbusters, and apparently still sells well. I'm wondering what will be included in this new receiver and at what price point....
