    need advice on speaker/amp upgrade

    Hi,

I want to upgrade my B&W705 to 805S. I currently have 1068/1075 Rotel. I have two questions:

    1) is it worth it to go from 705S => 805S

    2) If I do, is the 1075 strong enough to drive the 805s?
I enjoy both music and HT

    thanks,
    Cau :?:

    Why choose 805
Is it too small for movies
let have a listen to 704 if you love B&W
1075 is powerful to kiss out even 703 :T

I have absolutely no idea what that means.

HTguy, do you have to opportunity to audition? When I auditioned a pair of 805's (not signature), I thought my RB-1080 did a good job, but it is in a higher league, power wise. I wouldn't imagine that you would have trouble with the 1075, but if you can, why not try them with a 'better' amp -to see what you are missing or not missing (as the case may be).

I think what he is saying is, "The 1075 will drive even the 703 efficiently."

I can vouch for that, but i still wanna see what a 1080 will do for my 703s.

            Grit,

A 1080 will do great things for the 703...

I running 1095 for my 805s and they sound great. Im going to buy the RB-1090 for my 802. So I think the 1080 is a great match for 805s.

The RMB1075 seemed to power my N804 with no problem whatsoever...

HTguy: comming from a pair of 705 (which I chose over a pair of N805), I'd skip the 805S and start looking at the 804S... (3-way!).
In short: no, it's not worth it to go from 705 => 805S (then again, this is very subjective)...

                  HI,

I just upgraded my system from the Marantz SR7000 to Rotel 1068/1075. As expected, the audio quality improves significantly with the same BW602 speaker set. I plan to upgrade my speakers to BW705,HTM7. My question is if I should expect another jump in performance with the speaker...

                  Question,

I'm about to pull the trigger on another speaker purchase. My current system consists of the following:

Too much power for the 805S?
                  by tboooe
Hi, I am wondering what amp I should get for my new 805S? I have read that some people are using the RB1080 or RMB1095 which puts out 200w per channel. Maybe I am missing something but isnt the 805S only rated for 50-120W? Below is from the B&W website.

                  Power Handling 50W - 120W...
