    rotel 1095 current requirements

    Hi
I have recently purchased the rmb 1095, it is hooked up to the "high current" socket of a Monster Power Conditioner 5100ss, which is getting it's current from a regular electricity wall socket (10mAmp breaker). Do I need to replace the in -wall wires and electricity socket into a designated 20mAmp current supply to get the best of my amplifier ? anyone noticed an audioable difference with their system by switching to a higher current supply system ?

    Thanks

For starters where are you from? What is the household voltage?

      Hi
I am from the US ( Arkansas) standard wall voltage, 110~120V.
Other components hooked up to the Monster Conditioner : Velodyne spl 1200II powered subwoofer, Rotel 1060 dvd player, rotel 1068 processor, rotel 1095 power amp, HDTV, Cable box.

      Thanks

I suggest you move the subwoofer to another circuit. You can get by with just a good audio grade surge supressor since a subwoofers amp isn't sensitive to the higher frequency noise found in ac lines.

The best way to answer your question about sufficiency is to say maybe. A lot depends on how hungry your speaker/room combination is and how high an spl you intend to crank. Most multi-channel amps never get anywhere near their rated power consumtion mainly because in the real world of all channels are never active at the same time. If you were to be testing that 1095 with all channels driven simultanously into a resistive load, you would overload that circuit and blow your circuit breaker in your house panel.

Set you Monster conditioner to display the incoming line voltage and watch it periodically during loud passages. The line voltage should not sag by more than 10%. More than that indicates a potential overload and that the 1095 may not be getting it's requirements met.

DrJrapp is correct. With my setup at insane levels it never goes over 4A total draw as indicated on my AVS2000.

I understand you're not using a designated 20mamp power outlet to your system , and never faced shortage of current to your power amp. ?

I run my 27" TV, 1098/1095/RT-1080, CD Player, DVD player, PS2, 250watt Power supply for the 4 fans in the unit all off of a 15amp circuit that is shared with another room in the house (but there isn't really anything on that circuit). I also can put my RB-1080 on that and have not had a problem. Granted I only have on, what needs to be on (so if watching a movie, the CD player and PS2 aren't on, etc.).

A 10 amp while it should be enough, it never would hurt to get a good 15amp or 20 amp circuit in it's placed (dedicated just for that).

Correct. My setup has changed a bit, now I'm running just a NAD T773 instead of the 56TXi/NAD S250 I used too. But everything runs throught a Monster HTPS7000/AVS2000 combo. I've never at anytime got the impression that my amp or receiver was starved for juice.

I know the question was about power requirments .. but is that the only reason to go with a dedicated circuit? I went dedicated to give the cleanest power. (outside of adding external conditioners)

That is correct in thory. However, it doesn't always wind up that way in practice. Actually in design/construction we do dedicated power circuits for heavy loads, and dedicated/isolated circuits for sensitive loads.

How would you isolate a circuit and what would you put on the isolated circuit?

                              Power Conditioner Suggestions for 1095
                              by vsarathy
Could you guys offer me suggestions for power conditioners/surge protectors for my HT. Specifically, I intend to get a 1098/1095 and would like to connect them both to that unit. And, connecting the 1095 would, of course, require a conditioner with high-current ratings. BTW, what is the maximum current...

                              Hi
I was watching a movie ("the day after tomorrow") using my rotel dvd (1060) player. the volume on my processor indicated 80, during one of the "boomy" episodes I thought I heard some clipping from my front speakers( B&W 803s). during that time, my Monster power conditioner...

Thanks to everyone in this forum, I solved my original humming from my 1095 when I added a line conditioner. However, tonight I upgraded to Direct TV HD and the TV signal won't pass through the line conditioner I purchased. As a result, the installation specialist had to remove the line conditioner...
