    Rotel RB 1070 Owners

    Hi all

I am looking into buying a rotel RB1070 to drive my new B&W CM4's. I wanted to know those of you that own a 1070, what speakers you have connected to it and what your overall impressions are of this amp.

    Thanks
    for your comments

I was originally thinking of getting a 1080 for my Def Tech BP30's mains, but seeing as how this 1075 runs them incredibly well, I started to look at the 1070.

I checked the online manual and it doesn't list what they push at 4 ohms. They have 330 in bridged mode but thats not relevant to my situation.

I'd assume it would put out no less then 200 a channel at 4 ohms. That would be the same as my 1075. I could save some $$ and get the 1066 pre/pro even sooner

      Any advice/input?

Hope this snippet from Rotel's FAQ section helps SpoonMan.

Can the RB 1070 handle a nominal impedance of 4 ohms or below?
The RB 1070 is specified to be stable for a nominal impedance of 4 ohms minimum, how it is not specified to handle any nominal impedance below 4 ohms. When running in bridged mode, the RB 1070 is stable with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms minimum.

What is the RB 1070’s power output into 4 ohms?
The RB 1070 will output approximately 160 watts into a 4 ohm load.
It's also good to remember that the difference between 160 watts and 200 watts will be less than one decibel output.

Hmmm...I should have looked at their FAQ at their site before I posted this and emailed them, LOL. Thanks though.

Is it me or does 160 @ 4 ohms seem low seeing as it runs at 130 @ 8?

I always thought that an efficient amp would be close to double its output at 4 ohms.

I understand that wattage per channel has little do with volume, and I much prefer a high current over blown up #'s on paper.

I guess my question is this..

Will the 1070 outperform my 1075 when listening in 2 channel mode? The 1075 puts out about 200 @ 4 ohms if I remember correctly. I am very thrilled with how the 1075 performs, thus I think it would be safe to assume the 1070 would be as good, if not better for stereo listening 8)

Any and all opinions welcomed! Start posting!

          Thanks again Keith!

          -Aaron-

My first Rotel purchase was the RB 1070. It took a while for it to break in but once, it did, it sounded really nice. I just got ther RMB 1075 about a month and a half, and have been running the 5 main channels with it in order for it to break in and ther 1070 is driving one surround back speaker. I love the fact that all 3 front channels have the same exact sound, so right now I'm a bit hesitant to move ther RB 1070 back to the mains. I think the RB 1070 has enough power to drive most applications, but there's quite a few posts from people that tell you to get more power. I don't think I'm pushing either of my Rotel amps to close to have their power and the sound it just great.

              I'll be honest...brutally honest...

I bought a pair of Outlaw M200 monoblocks about 6 months ago. I liked them, but then again any seperate amp is better then the amps in a Receiver so I knew I'd be impressed.

They are rated to 200watts @ 8 ohms and 300watts @ 4ohms. Now seeing as they were only $300.00 each, their performance was great. But I just never went to bed at night feeling like I was 100% content. You guys know what I'm talking about I'm sure...

So I sold them on Audiogon. Well, to sum things up, the 1075 and its power rating, which is about half that of the M200's, sounds better in ALL categories.

It might be the higher current rating of the 1075, but I don't have a background in that area so I can't be sure. Regardless, it outperforms the Outlaw amps by a large margin in my opinion. And you can't put a price on "Peace of mind"

This brings me back to the "power" rating. The Outlaw monoblocks being almost double that of the 1075 @ 8 ohms just didn't do it for me. At the end of the day, I bet I'll be happy I bought the 1070 amp 8) I think I'll snag one soon!

Sorry for babbling. Its after 1am and Im beginning to fall asleep. I ran the 1075 all day, and a lot of the time it was at Reference level. It doesn't even got hot! Rotel sure knows how to make a kick ass Amp!

I am using a 1070 combination to drive my Elac (Elac? Yes Elac, www.elac.com ) 209JET speakers. They are quite heavy and run at 4 Ohms. However I have never had any complaints on the way the Rotel drives them... I still listen to it with so much pleasure each time! I must admit I would like to have one extra and bi-amp my speakers for just a little extra detail and placement... But that's for later..

I had a RB1070 running on B&W 604S3's and it was a wonderfull sound. I had a Onkyo TX-NR900 amp (rated at more or less the same amount as the 1070), but it couldn't come close the the nice clean and controlled sound of the 1070.

I sent Rotel an email in regards to a more precise # that the 1070 puts out at 4 ohms into 2 channels...

                    Dear Aaron,

Yes, the RB 1070 is stable into four ohms at approximately 200 wpc at rated THD.

                    Best Regards,

                    Tim

It matches my 1075 in power, which is what I was shooting for. Time to look into getting one

I have a 1070 mated with a 985mkII and couldnt be happier. Both amps drive my Klipsch speakers to insane volumes.

The 1070 is a great amp. It wont dissapoint you.

Have been lurking through various HT forums for some time but new to Club Rotel. I have learnt much and have improved my system greatly with the advice I've learnt. However, I am looking to upgrade within a limited budget, and a limited physical space and wish some advice....

                          Dear Members,

I am looking for a new music system. I was wondering if RC1070 along with the RB1072 is a good combination or not. I also had a look at the RB1070 (130 Watt) and was wondering if that would go along with the pre-amplifier. 1070 is cheaper then the 1072, but does provide...

                          Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the difference soundwise between the RB1070 and the RB1080?

At nearly double the price, does the RB1080 sound any better than the RB1070? (RB1080 = $1600 V's RB1070 =$900) Thats recommended full retail prices in Australia.
