    Separate Tuner

I'm curious if you have a separate tuner in your system or if it's part of a receiver?

I'm looking for a new separate tuner for my system, possibly the RT-1080, any suggestions?

We have the RT-1080 and it is the best tuner we've ever had, better than any receiver tuner we have had (including in the 1056). I don't know why a separate tuner is so much better, this really surprised us.

Thought about using a tuner but now I just use the digital cable for tuner style music. The AM stuff is so horrible that a tuner was a non factor since the cable provides many more music options than even FM. The HD tuner I am interested in, though. There is a thread here going now on the Rotel peice. I am also getting XM for the house next month.

Just purchased an RT-1080 from audiogon, love it. I do like the option of being able to listen to the radio. I can hear new music that I don't have on a disc. And I also listen to the High School football and basketball games. I was originally going to get any old tuner. But my wife didn't want something that looked "out of place". Hey, that's what she said. The 1080 is great looking as well as great working. :B

My tuner is a world band reciever or shortwave radio..am/fm/sw/ssb upper and lower side band..excellent reception radio for dxing.

The new recievers will have xm radio as well.

I keep seeing the XM radio, can you fill me in? What is it?

Ekkoville you mentioned; "I just use the digital cable for tuner style music."
It sounds like you don't have a tuner but have the digital cable plugged in somewhere else....i'm getting that right?
If it is, how are you doing this, where are you plugging it in?

I realize that tuners are the most popular piece of gear but i agree with DelRay, i like to have it on once in a while. Nice change.

I recently added the RT-1080 to my 1068/1075 system. It is a very decent tuner indeed! I'm feeding it with a cable signal => reception is 100%. However I cannot say performance is much better than the app 1/3 of the price NAD C422 I had before...

The main reason I got the RT-1080 was to get a matching system, which is what I've got. What bothers me though is that the format size on the RT-1080 display is clearly larger than the one they've used on the 1068 display. (And come to think of it, so is the format size above the buttons, allthought this difference is a smaller)...

Anyway, have you also considered the RT-02?

I'm considering the RT-02 to listen to some radio sometimes. Alot cheaper. Anybody knows how good it is?

                Thanks.

                  Rt-02

                  Hello,

I'm a very proud owner of Rotel's RT-02 tuner. This tuner sounds like a CD player. We also love the "RDS." This feature lets us know the artist & title of songs playing on stations that broadcast the RDS signal. The price for this tuner was right in our ball park.

Anyone compared the RT-02 to an integrated tuner or the RT-02 directly with the RT-1080 ? Is the only reason to go for the RT-1080 is to have the same look as the RCD-1072 ?

                    Thanks.

                      Jim777, pretty much.

The RT-02 and RT-1080 sound very very similiar with just the tip of better performance (both pulling in a signal and sound quality) going to the 1080.

The RT-02 is definitely a fine piece of tuner equipment!

The rt-1080 does have this neat little feature: it has two (selectable) antenna inputs! 8O

Well it could be nice for switching between cable and antenna... are they any other differences that I should be aware of?

I basically decided on the 1080 so that it would match my pre but considering that the performance is more or less the same maybe i should look at the rt-02???

Running the RT1080 with a 1068 and have everything working great except the "RDS and RDBS Reception" information. The manual states that by hitting display repeatedly, one should be able to set what is displayed on the 1080. I simply want the Standard (choice 1) Frequency Display but it...

As some of you know I just bought a RT-1080 tuner. I received it friday and have been working on a program to control it and view it. So far I have gotten the text from the display screen working pretty well. You see just what you see on the actual unit but there are a few bugs.

I just bought a Rotel rt1080. This is my first rotel product ever. My question is how do I use the IO Port. Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you had the chance to compare a Rotel separate tuner, the RT-1080 to the tuner in the Rx-1050 receiver. Would it be worth it to purchase the separate tuner or is the tuner in the 1050 already good enough?
