    Rotel RA-972 loud clicking ???

    Hi there...

I just purchased a used RA-972 integrated amp.

The source are selectable with a remote and the volume can also be turned up or down via the remote...

I have a RCD-991 CD player connected to it also...

I plugged the CD player in the "switched 400w max" plug in the back of it so it's turned on simultaneously...

    the Questions:

When I turn the unit on with the remote, a moderately loud click is hearable 2-3 times in a row??

Same when stitching from source to source??

    what is that??

and is it OK to plug the RCD-991 in the "switched" input or could it damage it in long term??

        Hi,

This is quite normal behaviour for a Rotel amp. What you hear are the internal relay's beiing switched on. When you change input, it changes the input relay.

I have had a RC-972 pre-amp wich had exactly the same behaviour.

The external power outlet can be used for tuners, CD players etc. So it is quite safe. However a dedicated outlet, with a good powercable might suit your brilliant RCD-991 better.

Is this normal, RSP-1098 "Clicking"? and Break in period.
          by eulogytool
I broke down and and bought the 1098 after months of debating and I am very happy.

First question is: What is the normal break in period for a Pre/Amp to reach it's full dynamic potential?

Second question: I have my gear loaded onto one circuit and when my refrigerator...

          Rotel RSP-1098: DSP desynchronization clicking
          by Blazar
My 1098 was working fine when I first bought it. Then a couple of weeks later I bought a RMP-1095 5 channel amp and hooked it up. It worked fine with brief periods of use and then something interesting happened.

When I used it for an extended period of time, my 1098 started making relay...

          Volume clicking sound RSP 1068?
          by Dallasdave
When I change volume up or down I get a slight click sound, not very loud but still noticeable. Click sound happens even if I bypass the 1068 processer with my Mazantz 8400. Amp 1095 5x200.
          Any suggestions?

          A51 is clicking!
          by mikepinkerton
My 4 year old A51 has started intermittently clicking on/off the right-most two blue indicator lights on the front panel. Usually this only happens while watching a movie, I haven't seen (or heard) it during normal TV watching. If I put the same movie into "stereo" mode on my pre/pro, it stops...
